Brackley V Darlington FC

Post by poppyfield » Sat Feb 17, 2018 11:01 am

Tough game today, hopefully we can come away with a result.
Big chance for Mills and Gillies (if picked) to cement there place in the first 11.
I would go for the same formation as previous games with Mills and Gillies slotting in for the injured Caton and suspended Thompson.

I know Caton has put in two goodish performances but we shouldn't miss him too much as he hasn't played for ages. It's tough that he got crocked just as he was looking to make a difference - it seems that things haven't worked well for him - so far.

Mountain to climb no Styche out with flu. Saunders up front on his own.

I didn't know about this. With Styche and Thompson missing it looks very tough.

We'll be lucky to get a draw out of today and this shows up even more the need to find a 2nd experienced striker. A Duffield to back up our new found Gabbiadini :o

This was sort of a free hit so we will see what happens!

York losing 3-0 at Curzon.Looks like Gray's 10 signings are not quite producing the goods.Looking forward to his post match 8 minute grilling, cannot wait.

Seriously do people still care about Gray? So weird

Would have much preferred a York win to keep Curzon behind us

I think it's 4- 1 now ! But to be fair to Gray, he's only signed 4 this week and perhaps he feels that he's not getting enough transfer action.

Looking at the scores at the moment this is going to be one helluva dogfight on the relegation run-in.

Goal difference could end up being important in the final reckoning.

3-0 FT not a good day at the office, but an understandable result given our injuries and suspensions. Good luck to Brackley for the remainder of the season, hope they win the playoffs.

3-0 a harsh scoreline, wasn’t that sort of game.
Not sure how their centre half stayed on in the first half for bringing Saunders down when he was through on goal. Red card any day of the week and only got a yellow. Ref bottled it.

Definitely need to bring in a striker as we can't keep relying on Styche. We need to have cover, if we lose him through injury or suspension we could end up back in the mix.

Just leaving the ground. You knew what was coming when you saw the team sheet. Our best 11 would probably have got a result against a pretty average side. Frustrating thing was that the first two goals were soft. Other results didn’t help to lighten the mood but on the other hand it looks like more teams could be dragged in. Next week will be tough and it feels like Tamworth is a must-win. Disappointed at the way we caved...no real leadership bar Turnbull. The penalty save just about summed it up. Hopefully this is just a blip and they can get back on track

Wasn't expecting to get anything out of today's game, even less so when the teamsheet revealed no Styche.

Let's get Kidderminster out the way and see if we can pick up at least a point. 8/10 of our remaining matches then come against teams in the bottom half.

Caton, Thompson & Styche to return gives reason to be optimistic.

With Thommo and Styche out was always going to be tough Nick, Mills does not do it for me so I would have gone more defensive to try and get a draw but this will go to the wire.York and Spenny results did us no favours but I am still confident we will be OK looking at our run in.Spenny and Stockport away look tough and Kiddy at home but the rest are winnable.Could really do with another striker tbh.

Could not get to game today, and only able to listen to second half on the radio :(

Thought it would be hard once I heard the team without Styche with flu and of course Thommo. From the commentary Syres sounded like he was playing at centre forward which is a position he mentioned previously in one of his interviews that it was not his best position, (although to be honest I can see why he was tried there), and Saunders out on the wing which I have not really seen him play before. With Gillies and Mills playing who neither have had much game time and neither really are ones to track back and get tackles in, (Mills been looking a bit unfit since joining and was suffering from hamstring injury recently, although clearly has skill). Also seems like a few of them just recovered from flu!

Not a good time to play third in the league then and Galbraith to miss a penalty, (bet he will have wanted to take one as well given that the role was taken off him by Styche and Thommo - should have blasted it as Thommo has been doing).

Good to see the young Glover given a chance, (and did well according to the commentary), possibly have been better to take off either Mills or Gillies rather than Wheatley? (and move Wheatley to the wing a he sounded like he was one of the more dangerous players for us).

Once 3 nil down and missed a penalty it would have been nice for Milburn to be given some time on the pitch as well to give him some encouragement for the future, (wonder if Vinny Steel not getting near the first team also played a part in him deciding to go to York, besides getting full time offer of course ;) ).

Anyway lets hope this has not hit confidence and the team recover for next week, as another hard game ahead but certainly winnable for our great team.

I guess Mills was left on to help get him fit. Some good touches but looked dead on his legs second half.

Cannot get my head round all this "Mills not fit" stuff, why is he not fit, we signed him ages ago.If he is not fit he does not play, simple as that.
