Darlington FC V Kidderminster

Tough game today, but with Thompson and Styche back from illness and suspension fingers crossed we can get something from the game

Need every point we can take. On paper, this is the toughest game of all our rivals but they are scrapping between themselves. I would like to see the lads go for all 3 so we don't have to check what everyone else is doing. Given the return of Thommo and Reece, they could be the boost to team confidence that we need. C'mon the lads!

A few on their message board are worried about a number of players unavailable especially in defence. Hope Styche can lead the line well again today as we may have a chance of getting at least a point by the sound of it. They seem to be looking for a point, let's take 3!
"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"

My only worry about staying up this year is if we get injuries. Hopefully it's just TW not taking any chances, knowing we need a full squad for the run-in starting next week, as today isn't a six pointer.

69' Kidderminster make their third change, Brown for Weeks. And Darlington replace Wheatley with Scott, and Gillies comes on for Saunders. Bit more experience in the DFC team now. 1-0

70' Styche hits the post after Gillies’ pull back, the ball bouncing off the inside of the post after DFC striker found space in the box. So close to 2-0.

Kidderminster level, making the most of a mistake by Pears. Looks like he lost sight of the ball in the sun, came for the high ball, missed it, Ironside headed against the post and then tapped in the loose ball. 1-1

Darlington should be leading 2-1. Can only think Styche lost his footing as he attempted to roll the ball into the net after Syers’ pass with the goalkeeper nowhere. 1-1

Thompson scores in the first minute of added time to put Darlington ahead, dribbling into the penalty, drilling the ball low and hard. 2-1

FT: 2-1. That’s a very good result for youthful Darlington team, they’d have taken a point beforehand - Kidderminster haven’t lost a league away game since September. Heaton and Thompson with the goals

What a great result, Alfie Thompson with the winner. (Vanarama site!). Really pleased for the gaffer, things are looking up.

This league is mental. Despite 4 wins in 5 games, if Telford win any of their games in hand we're still only 2 points off the drop zone. Oh, and bugger off Blyth.

What a win. Absolutely delighted.

I believe not so long ago, i confidently stated Thompson couldn't hack it at this level. Which demonstrates exactly how much i know

Definitely glass half empty there.

Cheer up, Telford won't win their games in hand anyway.

We are on the upturn and there are loads of other teams in it now, who are in worse form (Tamworth, FCUM for example have been dragged in) who have more to fear.

No more looking down, just look up and see which teams we can reel in. March is massive and I see at least 9 or 10 points, and pretty much safe by then.

Let's not forget that we have two of the leagues best forward players and look like a team that can score again, plus some outstanding young players.

Haha fair play for admitting it.

Thompson has certainly got his confidence back, I think Wright gives them more freedom and believes more in attacking which has probably seen him get the best out of Thompson.

One thing that makes this win all the more sweeter is that we're in the middle of an injury crisis again. And we were playing one of the best teams in the league.

Missing today - Hunter, Collins, Brown, O'Hanlon - that's an entire defence. Also missing out on loan Burgess and Marrs - that's half another defence! Also injured - Portas and Caton.

Several of those players (obviously not including Burgess and Marrs any more) would be considered first teamers.

Great result and delighted we are building on the up turn in results.

Last week could've set us back but it clearly hasn't, credit to all involved.

That was one of the most dramatic victories we've had at BM. They missed some sitters in the first half and then we missed some easy chances to seal it in the second before they got the equaliser. It was like a cuptie in the second half as they went three at the back and threw men forward to try to win it. It was so sweet to win it after allowing them to equalise through a mistake. And all the sweeter given the defensive rejig. We also seemed to be denied a clear penalty when Styche was hauled down in the box.
Rejuvenated Thommo... quite simply one of the best signings this club has made since we became fan owned. Whatever it was that we paid Durham City for him in 2012 he has repaid it time and time again.

Some managers would use that as an excuse. Both for dropping points and to sign 6 new players
