Heaton Signs a New Deal

Post by JamesDarlo » Wed Mar 07, 2018 4:02 pm

http://darlingtonfootballclub.co.uk/jos ... year-deal/

Josh Heaton signs an improved 2 year deal, absolutely massive this. Having him for 2 years makes him a huge asset, and now if he gets snapped up in summer we'll enjoy a few quid. Fantastic, well done to Tommy and all those involved in getting this done.

Brilliant news, Josh won't be here long, a football league club will come calling so it's great to see some security for the club in regards to transfer fees

Brilliant, as some have said Heaton is a class act and will command a good fee at some point.

Good bit of business. Putting two and two together perhaps there's been interest already and the extended contract pushes his price up a bit?

Was wondering the same Spyman. Great for the club to get him tied down. I have no doubt we will have interest in him I'm the summer. Just need to make sure we are properly compensated both in the short term with a decent upfront fee and longer terms with add ons based on appearances and sell ons.

I really rate Heaton and I'm sure there will be plenty of clubs will be looking at him over the remainder of the season. Thanks Josh for putting your faith in the club and giving us the opportunity to benefit from you're progress up the leagues.

Spot on Pete and huge credit to Tommy and Alan for the progress Josh has made with us plus our directors for getting him tied down to a 2 year contract when money is tight.

Am I being naughty if I point out MG was the first one to try and sign Heaton?

He played for us in a friendly against Shildon and was injured in the next game I think then seemed to have been forgotten.MG never followed up his interest so good on Tommy to sign him from Ramsbottom.

Wasn't he at Bamber Bridge at the time?

Sure we signed him from Ramsbottom and think he was at Bamber Bridge when Gray brought him in.

Good move to get Heaton a new contract, presume his original deal wasn't a great one for him but hopefully he is with the right management team to set him up for a move back into professional football.

He has done really well and don't think a full season in Nat North next year would do him any harm, hopefully we keep him and stay up and get to see that next year.

I remember Bamber Bridge fans were upset when we signed him for nowt, so they obviously rated him as well.

He needed surgery didn't he following that Shildon game or it was quite a long term injury which is why we didn't sign him.

I don't know what he would have thought of MG given that he dropped his interest the moment he got injured.

I was hoping for a few more bites from the MG Obsessives if I'm honest.

TW's best bit of transfer business? Or is that Reece? Either way, it's great news.

Time will tell - if he goes on to make us a decent fee in the future then probably, yes.

Yes and unfortunately this is the way forward for DFC if we are to survive. It is a step in the right direction and hope this will build us a reputation as a club who can develop youngsters and offer them access to a career as a professional footballer. This in turn will attract ambitious talent to the club rather than older players who had peaked as full-timers & only wanted cash.
Well done to The Management!

Assume means a selling club, but let's face it unless you are one of the top 3 or 4 clubs you're likely a selling club, it's just the way of it :)

For years we weren't a selling club because we had nobody decent to sell!

The thought of being the sort of club that generates decent revenue through developing talent sounds positive to me.

Not naughty at all, because it's a fact.

Am I being naughty if I point out that MG is a cheb end?

If we were fortunate, then we would be winning every game by 2 or 3 great goals, by playing expansive flowing football as per Barcelona and attract massive crowds of fans to our own ground where free parking and public transport are available, sponsored heavily soccer centre of excellence of 4G pitches, with undersoil heating for main stadium near town centre with facilities for physios and trick cyclists. I would probably chuck in more than a few millions myself after winning Euromillions. Unfortunately, in the real world, none of this is very likely - but we will survive (somehow). We always will
