Yaba-daba-doo!!!!!

Hoped we might - partly down to being fan owned I think. Fans are probably not going to put in the same effort to save a Chairman's money. Brilliant - well done all. At last we have had an extra income that hasn't relied on fans having to dig deep.

Hope we spend the money wisely. On something that lasts for the club, not a signing. The academy, some infrastructure. Whatever. Great news.

It's not just the 20k prize of course - the match against the 'legends' is an ideal opportunity to attract some people who wouldn't normally attend our games and hopefully convince a few to come back again over the course of next season

And a friendly against a legends team ?

Great news - good opportunity to build some PR around the legends match and as said above hopefully the £20k is put towards something long term, or saved for a rainy day.

I think Corby got 2,000 people in for their game. 10% of the receipts go to charity.

Fantastic effort from those who did vote and the volunteers who cleared the pitch of snow! It is not just the dosh which is a welcome boost to our budget but also the Legends friendly. Could be a great opportunity to attract in some of the fickle fans who stay away and give us an ideal launch-pad for next season.

Suppose we should also give thanks to Styche & Brown

Hopefully they’ll get Gazza involved with the legends game - he always brings in a decent crowd

Couple of shots of Gazza in the crowd at yesterday’s toon game.Poor bugger looked like an old man .Might be good for some PR but wouldn’t expect to see him on the pitch.
Great news though and should be a good day.

What a fantastic achievement and just adds to the recent feel good factor around the club. Hope we work hard marketing the friendly and encourage lots through the door. Could be a great early season money spinner to top up the Boost the Budget effort.

Also on another note. Reece Styche 12 or so goals in 18 games + 20k prize money + money spinning pre season friendly. Dare I say he's more than paid back the money we put out on him already.

A big mention to Gary Brown who’s massive leap into the snow made the goal celebration look even better

Being managed by Sir Geoff Hurst as well, it says here:

What an absolutely amazing day this could turn out to be - could almost bring in another £20k itself!

Great achievement for all involvled in winning this. We all know the capacity of BM, so I wonder if the Board are considering the Arena if they genuinely feel some fans would not be able to get ickets? I personnally don't feel we would fill BM, therefore the game should be staged there. Depending on your point of view, this would also be a good chance to further develop our on going relationship with the Rugby Club as I would imagine they would keep the bar profits, unless this falls outside of our normal "Licence to play" arrangement?

Just had a look at some of the names in the 'legends' team. I think 'journeymen' would be more apt seeing as other than Heskey, none of them really troubled the top half of the table!

Proper excited about the friendly now. Sir Geoff Hurst! He could pull in a couple of thousand by himself.

Apart from the 9 on the list already, anyone know who else who will be in the Legends team...

Will Lawrenson take part...

People like Chris Sutton, Eider Gudjohnson, Ruel Fox and Ray Parlour have been in the past...

I would love to see Peter Beardsley or David Ginola, or Gazza if he didnt look so fucked these days

The squad last year (which lost 6-1 to Corby) was:
Emile Heskey, Kevin Davies, Stan Varga, Eider Gudjohnsen, William Gallas, Mark Crossley, Dion Dublin, Darren Anderton, Danny Mills, Chris Waddle, Stiliyan Petrov, Trevor Sinclair, Alan Stubbs, Danny Murphy, Matty Holland, Nigel Winterburn, Ian Harte, Matt Elliott - managed by Peter Reid.

Of those, Stubbs, Mills, Waddle and Heskey are confirmed back this year, so far joined by Richard Dunne (so we should manage at least an own goal), Kieron Dyer, Joleon Lescott, Luke Young and Wayne Bridge.

Might be worth keeping an eye here: https://www.nlc.marathonbet.co.uk/2017- ... echallenge as I think this is where they will add the new players.
