This weeks games

BPA 0 Telford 1 at half time.

Telford currently in 18th on the live table, Tamworth drop into the bottom 3.

Good job we had a very good February, I guess by Monday it will be a lot clearer after this midweek games and two over the weekend are played.

We need probably 2 more wins to be virtually safe, I'd take 4pts though over the bank holiday weekend.

BPA pull it back to 1-1.

Telford still out of the bottom 3 but only on goal difference now but on 39 points.

Tamworth have only 6 games but have North Ferriby and Gainsborough to play. 4 wins out of 6 takes them to 51. If Alfreton and Leamington win 3 out of 7 then they hit 50 points too. Someone really could be relegated on 50 points.

Would happily take 4 points off the two games this weekend. Just don't want the season to end on a few defeats, be good to keep things positive.

Hence my posts a few weeks ago about whether 50pts is enough to stay up, it would be really unlucky to go down with that amount but it's a possibility.

Will Telford get 12 points from 8 games. I’d be amazed if they suddenly have an upturn in for that sees them win 4 games.

Can Gainsborough get 16 from 7. Definitely not.

Therefore 50 points will be safe.

No one is going down with 50 points. It rarely happens in a 46 game season, it won’t happen in a 42 game season.

People are assuming all these teams at the bottom are going to win enough matches and that is not going to happen.

We are already safe with 47 points - out of Tamworth, Telford and Gainsborough at least two of the three will fail to reach this total.

I’d agree that we need 4 points from the next two, not to save us from the drop but because I want us to finish as close to the top 7 as possible.

Plenty of sides near the bottom of the table will have to play each other and they both can't get 3 points. 50 points will be more than enough to avoid the drop.

Telford back in the relegation zone.
Tough on Telford tonight, and this weekend, another long trip up to Blyth.
With the following games

30/03 Friday
Salford vs Curzon Ashton
Tamworth vs NORTH FERRIBY

31/03 Saturday
Blyth vs Telford

Telford might be chasing Curzon Ashton, it should be losses for Curzon and Telford, three points for Tamworth that would give them a 4 point lead over Telford.

Latest scores

Alfreton 0-1 Kidderminster
Brackley 0 -0 Boston
Harrogate 0-2 Spennymoor Harrogate down to 10 men
Salford 4-1 Blyth
York 2-0 Southport

Perhaps tonight might be a decisive night in the fight for automatic promotion.

Blyth Spartans drop out of the play off picture and with their current form you can see them staying out.

Interesting that if Brackley win all 3 games in hand they would actually go top on goal difference.

We need Harrogate to come top and get the bonus from Mark Beck's transfer. May be more twists and turns.

Harrogate blew a great chance.

Think this just closes the door on our slim chance of playoffs. Feel that we were not quite ready, just as well as it would be heartbreaking to go close.

They have Brackley away on Friday and then Blyth at home on Monday, they could well be out of the running really by Monday at 5pm.

Strange we have an add on if they win the league, though Beck had a sell on clause. Sounds like we couldn't get full price so took a slightly reduced price with the add on if they win the league.

Parkin has had an op and it out for about 3 weeks, not sure if that is good or bad for York really as they haven't done too much different without him.

We will be a good 6 to 8 points off the playoffs I reckon. At least we are at the point where the club can and has started planning for next season.

The promotion battle has really fired up the fans to fever pitch. Fewer than 400 home fans at Brackley and fewer than 800 home fans at Salford

Those are the crowds when they are winning, once these 2 start losing games which they will if they go up, then god knows how many will turn up.

Brackley with a population of 13,000 getting 400 at a game is a far higher % of the local population watching their team than many teams at this level get.

Try comparing gates in NLN with NLS.

A gate of 800 such as Salford got would put them in top 3 average attendance wise in the NLS

The point with Sal£ord is they were getting crowd nearly 2000 when the cocks of 92 took over now they are top of the league and can't get over a 1000 for a midweek match.. Pish poor really

Full-time team, massive budget, millions spent on ground, among the cheapest season tickets around, top of the league.... it's a pretty poor show if all you can muster is fewer than 800 home fans for the vanity project at Salford. God knows what it would have been if Man U were on the box.

And yes I agree that the Brackley crowds will never be any bigger because that's the ceiling and all it really amounts to is a pile of dosh thrown at a tiny club to prop up what in the open market would be wildly unsustainable. It's good while it lasts for the largely empty terraces but football is littered with clubs that have risen in this way only to find that there is a heavy price to pay when the man with the money pulls the rug. Look down at the bottom of our league for starters.

And at a time when Man Utd are hardly pulling up trees!

Brackley could have the smallest away following at Wembley for an FA Trophy final ever, at least Bromley should compensate with being a London club.

Think we need to stop being high and mighty because teams who never had large attendances / followings don't suddenly have large followings because they are winning games.

They are vanity projects of owners you can't really blame the fans.
