Discounted Entry v Boston. Sat 7th April

Post by Gow9900 » Sun Apr 01, 2018 6:20 pm

Just received an e-mail from the club regarding this. Putting it on here so people are aware:

As part of our drive to increase matchday attendance and revenue we’re offering all existing season ticket and 500 Club holders a discounted ticket for this Saturday’s (7th April) home fixture versus Boston United at Blackwell Meadows.

Whether you want to either treat a mate by buying their ticket or forward them this email so they can buy it themselves at a heavily discounted rate it’s up to you! All we ask is that you use the offer to either bring a new or lapsed fan along rather than someone who regularly attends currently.

As season ticket holders you are the biggest ambassadors for our Club and therefore best placed to sell the Club to your friends and family. If half of you managed to persuade one single extra person to come along at the discounted rate it would add an extra 400 to the gate and generate in excess of £3,000. If we all do our small bit it makes a huge difference collectively.

Do you know a fan who used to come who has lost interest, or someone who’s never yet been to Blackwell Meadows? Now is the perfect time to get them back along. We’re working hard to improve the matchday experience and now have the additional seating available which gives excellent views under cover and we’re playing arguably our best football all season on the pitch coming off the back of a 6-0 thrashing of North Ferriby in our last home game.

We’re setting a target of 300 discounted tickets sold for the game so we need you to get your best sales pitch together! Oh and did we forget to mention that one season ticket holder selected at random who participates in the offer will win a hospitality package for 2 for a forthcoming home game?!

Let’s get Blackwell bouncing....
————————————————————
THE BORING BUT IMPORTANT STUFF:
Offer valid for Boston United game on April 7th only. Offer valid for one discounted standing ticket per 500 Club / season ticket holder bought through the link in the above email only. Anyone paying on the gate will be charged full price. Adult / Senior / Disabled / Forces qualifies for this discount. Season ticket holder’s name must be entered when purchasing discounted ticket. Multiple purchases under same 500 Club / season ticket holder's name will be marked invalid & cancelled. Offer must be redeemed online before 12pm on Saturday April 7th.

Great idea, but the e-mail doesn't say how much the discounted tickets are?

Yes it does, the subject line of the email is :

"Bring a MATE for £8"

That bit wasn't copied into the OP above though.
Alun's promise to the fans: “I’ll make sure I’ll bring players in that are value for money and I want players that want to play for Darlington Football Club, want to progress and move up the league and show the fans that passion.”

Ok but the e-mail above doesn't state that.

Nor does it give you the link to book tickets.

The email which those who are eligible will receive gives both so no problem. The website article also mentions this so anyone who lives outside the uncovered ecosystem will be fine

Yes, but the interminably dull Darlo_Pete has to have something to whinge about.

Can you ensure this continues in the future - after all, he has to find some way of keeping his post count up.....

The tickets are offered for 1 ticket per season ticket holder and 500 club members. Even if everyone took the ticket it wouldn't max out the capacity of Blackwell Meadows so I'd stop worrying about this Pete and maybe stop posting about it

It does indeed but you’ll need to give a separate season ticket holder name for each. We did this so if a family who held season tickets wanted to invite more than one person it wasn’t a laborious case of having to make 2/3 transactions

Will the game even be on? Having doubts about it..

The weather has been crap all week and it's meant to rain all Saturday morning..

Same here. You just know it'll tip it down every Saturday with depressing familiarity.
At least we're not in Telford's position. They have 3 home games in 6 days starting tomorrow with the forecast poor for the weekend and beyond.

I'm quietly confident it'll be on... The Thursday and Friday detailed forecasts look promising with the sun being out and with decent temperatures.

Obviously it'll depend on how much rain we get on Saturday morning, but I have my doubts as to whether the game will be on. There you go Harry.

Thanks for clarifying this. I only ordered 1 anyway.

Hope you're right. After 11 hours on trains to get here, only to be locked out of 2 grounds in 3 days over Easter, I'll be extremely sick if we lose Saturday's game and I have to travel home Sunday without seeing a ball kicked.

Saturday's forecast has just been on. If it doesn't change, we are fooked again. Hours of torrential rain.

Problem is that any pitch inspection will need to done about 9 am at which is before the rain starts and the pitch will probably be playable at that point. Could we not delay 24 hrs and play Sunday when the weather is OK rather than risk a late postponement and having to pay Bostons expenses.

Just looked at Boston's fixtures and they don't have a spare Tuesday. Really fingers crossed that the forecast changes.

Puts a little bit of pressure on us to keep this form going as we're only 6 points from the drop...

Looking at the weather on BBC the band of rain Darlington seems to be on the edge of it so I guess it just depends how it hits, we have two dry days in advance so could well be no issue.

Anyhow not a lot we or the club can do, the pitch will be playable still at 12pm on Sat so just have to hope/expect it to go ahead.

Rain is forecast from 08-00 on Saturday morning till 19-00, with heavy rain forecast for the period from 12-00 to 14-00. Doesn't sound good, it'll all depend on how much the ground drys out yesterday and today.
