Darlington Trivia

Post by The_Ozzman_Cometh » Wed Apr 18, 2018 8:11 pm

A couple of Trivia questions:

In the 1910/11 Season Darlington reached the last 16 of the FA Cup but of the 16 clubs left in at that stage Darlington were the only club to have done what?

John Spuhler,Harry Bell,Ken Morton,Richard Davis and Tom Reynolds formed Darlington's forward line during the 1955/56 Season but what was unusual about it ?

Did they all finish their careers playing for Darlo as I don't recollect any of them signing for any other league club after they left us.

Got me thinking about that forward line and could it be that they all had jobs outside of football.I know Keith Morton and Harry Bell had, not sure about the others.

You may well be right in that but it is to do with something they had in common before they came to Darlington.

We will be playing at the arena again next season - fact.

Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.

Had the forwards all played for Sunderland?
Alun's promise to the fans: “I’ll make sure I’ll bring players in that are value for money and I want players that want to play for Darlington Football Club, want to progress and move up the league and show the fans that passion.”

Did they all work together downt pit? Or int rolling mills?
Had they all suffered from rickets or diphtheria?
Were they all the illegitimate children of the The 13th Duke Of Wybourne?
Had each of them single single-handedly stormed a Nazi machine gun nest on D-Day, saving 15 men, been wounded, refused evacuation and been awarded a medal? ;-)

I have no idea! Good question.

Question two has been answered correctly.

The answer to Question 1 was that Darlington reached the last 16 of the FA Cup having played in every qualifying round which was the first time it had happened.
