Re: Darlington FC V Southport match thread
5-0 win would do nicely, alongside a Spennymoor defeat tomorrow meaning we can travel to Stockport on Saturday with a small small chance of making the play-offs.

Reckon the crowd will be around 1300, with hardly any Southport fans.
Re: Darlington FC V Southport match thread
Their fans seem to want Kevin Davies sacked after spending a small fortune on players and overseeing seven defeats on the bounce recently.... now I've gone and cursed it for us!

Interesting to see how many travel as they were "definitely" running a coach!
Re: Darlington FC V Southport match thread
1-0 Darlo - Josh Gillies
Re: Darlington FC V Southport match thread
1-1 HT, awful mistake from Heaton gifts them a goal

First 20 minuets we looked ok , after they got the equaliser there was only one team in it and it wasn’t us very disappointedDarlo2807 wrote:Finished 4-2. Worst performance of the season?

To be fair, they had their chances in the first 20 minutes too. Could’ve been a different game though, at 3-1 I feel like the header was over the line. Not to be.Darlopartisan wrote:First 20 minuets we looked ok , after they got the equaliser there was only one team in it and it wasn’t us very disappointedDarlo2807 wrote:Finished 4-2. Earth calling TW.........Worst I have seen this season, when we got thumped at Chorley I thought at least they were a decent team. At one nil up tonight Southport were there for the taking, we should have put the game to bed straight after that first goal and really gone for them. Anyone care to disagree that Reece (along with others) had a poor game tonight? It frustrates me that one part of his game means he often doesn't challenge for 50/50 balls in the air as he gambles on the defender making a mistake, more often than not this does not happen, I would prefer he challenges, that way at least we have a 50% chance of winning the ball.Darlo2807 wrote:To be fair, they had their chances in the first 20 minutes too. Awful performance - good job there was hardly anyone there to see it! Probably only O'Hanlon had a decent enough game - everyone else was well below par

Re: Darlington FC V Southport match thread
We looked good until we scored, but then we were second best for the remainder of the game. Southport looked a decent side, especially considering they'd lost there previous 7 games. I can only assume that Josh Heaton wants to remain at Darlo, as any watching scouts would have left after we went 1-2 down, Heaton's worst game for Darlo. O'Hanlon was the only player who had a good game, although Trotman was decent until half-time and Vaulks was good when he came on for the second half. A game to instantly forget.

Agree that Styche had a poor game, seemed allergic to the 18 yard box.bga wrote:Earth calling TW.........Worst I have seen this season, when we got thumped at Chorley I thought at least they were a decent team. Re: Darlington FC V Southport match thread
Apparently Caton was not best pleased with being left out of the squad.

Wonder what’s given him that sense of entitlement...Darlo_CR wrote:Apparently Caton was not best pleased with being left out of the squad.

Re: Darlington FC V Southport match thread
We were awful at the back, Heaton and Vaulks had poor games but without doubt the best side won tonight. We did not test their keeper enough and seemed a man short in midfield. Not the end of the world though and onto next season and see who Tommy can bring in and who will be released.Hopefully he can move some players on and freshen up the squad for a top 7 assault but all in all it has been a season of consolidation so will settle for that.

Great summary Ron as usual. Are you and the little soldier booked for Eindhoven yet?

Re: Darlington FC V Southport match thread
I was surprised how many Southport fans made the trip considering there recent form.
Re: Darlington FC V Southport match thread
The defence looked all at sea after losing Galbraith and Trotman.
