Re: Local Clubs Released Players
We are close to signing a striker according to the echo, the signings that Tommy makes will shape our season.
Re: Local Clubs Released Players
I know they are not exactly local, but expect Liverpool will release Karius who could keep our bench warm as second string keeper.
Also hear that Bale wants regular start in first team and could be an ideal replacement for Turnbull, even if he is getting on a bit.

Have you not read the Turnbull thread - he doesn’t score goals so not sure how a Bale could replace him...jjljks wrote:I know they are not exactly local, but expect Liverpool will release Karius who could keep our bench warm as second string keeper.

Whitby say they have news of four players signing contracts this week. One is Dave McTiernan... the other three to be named shortly.

Re: Local Clubs Released Players
Greg Mills has signed for Stourbridge
Re: Local Clubs Released Players
Ashley Hemmings has joined Salford City from Boston.
Re: Local Clubs Released Players
Ah well, cross him off our wish list then.
Re: Local Clubs Released Players
Wonder if we covered our costs on that one?Darlopartisan wrote:Greg Mills has signed for Stourbridge
IMO we are better without someone who never really seemed to have his heart in DFC
Re: Local Clubs Released Players
He’s signed after being a free agent so unfortunately no fee was involved.jjljks wrote:Wonder if we covered our costs on that one?Darlopartisan wrote:Greg Mills has signed for Stourbridge

Re: Local Clubs Released Players
I'd have been surprised given his form, if he would have commanded any fee, even if he was still on a contract with us. I think it's best for all concerned if he's moved on. Probably one of TW's only failures in the transfer market.

Think TW was giving the lad a chance and given his experience was right to take a bit of a gamble that Mills could recapture his form, but it never came off. At least Mills won't be a drain on our wages / travel expense budget. Sound decision to let him go, but squad is now looking a bit small so over to TW to bring in reinforcements. I look forward to TW bringing in some new blood to replace recent departures.

Simon Ainge has started following Darlo on twitter. Putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5....
Re: Local Clubs Released Players
Seems to have quite impressively converted to a striker in his late twenties and been quite prolific since doing so!al_quaker wrote:Simon Ainge has started following Darlo on twitter. Putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5....
He looks the sort of versatile player we should be going after.

We will be playing at the arena again next season - fact.
Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.

Look at Styche’s tweets and it may get your hopes up even furtherDarlogramps wrote:Why did you have to post this? I'm going to start getting my hopes up now.al_quaker wrote:Simon Ainge has started following Darlo on twitter. Putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5....

Would be some signing if true, great record at Harrogate and not sure what happened when he left.Think he went to Wrexham and not heard much since but would settle for him coming without a doubt.Come onTommy.

He did have a bad injury last season, went to Wrexham on loan who then changed managers so he barely played. By all accounts he came back too quickly from the injury so wasn't ready.
But his record in the previous seasons is excellent.
Re: Local Clubs Released Players
Quakerz is currently trawling Google Images for signs of a company called Ainge.
Re: Local Clubs Released Players
The good thing about Ainge of course is that if we're running a smaller squad he could be used at the back if we have an injury crisis. Styche could play on his own again with Syers/Hughes in the hole.

Seems to be enough clues to put two and two together on this one, looks like we will know/confirm soon enough.

Sounds like he's got a good pedigree, it would certainly beef up the frontline.
Re: Local Clubs Released Players
If you want to 'beef up' the front line Pete, need to look at Dexter Blackstock.Darlo_Pete wrote:Sounds like he's got a good pedigree, it would certainly beef up the frontline.

Re: Local Clubs Released Players
Shhh don’t mention any signings yet.
Re: Local Clubs Released Players
Richard Peniket signs for Alfreton from Gateshead. Probably not someone who would have fitted into our plans if we are moving to more of a 4-4-2 but a decent signing for them non the less.
Heath assembling plenty of the team that fought their way out of the division with Halifax. Another team that could be in the mix for playoff places.

Re: Local Clubs Released Players
I don't think that Billy Health's scouting network goes beyond players from teams he has previously managed.
Back on to our targets (specifically goalkeepers), I see Cameron Belford has been released by Forest Green Rovers (Leicester based).
James Talbot is also being linked with a move to Shamrock Rovers, so might not be available to us this summer.
Don't think we've got a chance in keeping Pears, as I think Boro will want him to play higher for his development.
I also see Luke George has been released by Hartlepool. Has a bit of a reputation as being a non-nonsense, kick everything defensive midfielder. Would be what we need.
