Darlington RA relegated
Darlington RA relegated
Darlington RA have been relegated into the Wearside League after a 4-0 loss at home to Hebburn Town. They started the day 1 point above Brandon United, who won 4-0 at home to Bedlington Terriers.
This means that they will be playing against our reserves next season

Re: Darlington RA relegated
I for one, am sorry about that. I used to watch them now and then, as a youngster all those years ago when Darlo were away. TW still seems to believe we need a Reserve team, I remain to be convinced unless some players can push through next season and challenge for a First teanm place, but I doubt they will?Darlo2807 wrote:Darlington RA have been relegated into the Wearside League after a 4-0 loss at home to Hebburn Town. Massive shame for RA, remember in the 90's playing against them in Darlo District League on a Sat and they went on a great run to end up Northern League Div1.
I always hope we play some kind of friendly against them each year with a few first teamers to get them a decent crowd. Hopefully they will stay together and get back up through the Wearside League next season.

Don't know if it is one up one down from that League? We could hope for a double maybe RA and our Reserves to go up?super_les_mcjannet wrote:Massive shame for RA, remember in the 90's playing against them in Darlo District League on a Sat and they went on a great run to end up Northern League Div1.

2 down from NL2, 1 up from Wearside and 1 up from Northern Alliancebga wrote:Don't know if it is one up one down from that League? What about the Teesside League which is the other Step 7 feeder league?

To be honest they've been struggling to avoid relegation for a few seasons now, Bushead will be disappointed.
Re: Darlington RA relegated
Not sure about that, Pete, it's only been this season and last. The three seasons before that they finished comfortably mid-table (14th, 13th, and 12th). And going back beyond that they finished 5th two seasons running. Their decline seems to have been a lot more sudden than you think.Darlo_Pete wrote:To be honest they've been struggling to avoid relegation for a few seasons now, Bushead will be disappointed.

Ok I may be wrong, but they struggle for any support and I doubt whether than will be able to muster a serious challenge next season, to get back into the NL.biccynana wrote:Not sure about that, Pete, it's only been this season and last. Re: Darlington RA relegated
I’d rather have a mutually beneficial agreement with the RA than a fully fledged reserve side.
Re: Darlington RA relegated
Will they be relegated now that Jarrow Roofing have folded?

Re: Darlington RA relegated
Normally the ra would get a reprieve due to jarrow roofing folding and 2 teams been promoted but not this time as the fa want to reduce league sizes. I think ra would only need to finish in the top 5 of wl to get promoted and they will have the advantahe of a northern league standard ground. Feel for them. Only been twice and its not a bad setup. Really friendly club. A club official said players only get paid if they have money spare. A world away from alot of clubs at that level

Three relegations in a row. That's bad.

Re: Darlington RA relegated
Should be attractive derby games when RA play our kids team and an RA friendly with a Darlo XI is always going to be popular. Not sure if any reserves are allowed into the Northern League, although Spenny played there for many years with many ex Darlo first teamers.
