Wonder how long before Martin is on the phone.

Goes without saying Alun Armstrong's application is already in the mail.

This year in our league - out of the two teams picked for promotion pre season, Salford's management lose their jobs due to success and York's management keep their jobs due to failure.

Serious indeed. Seems harsh, although it says mutual consent, so who knows if they were asking too much....

I am curious who else they bring in. I wouldn't be surprised to see them chase a big name.

Amazing! Perhaps the Class of 92 fancy that they could do the job between themselves and save some money or even bring in Tracey Neville to manage the side? That way they could keep it in the family!

Suggest that Martin Gray would fit in nicely with their budget. They deserve each other :o

Didn't York get rid of the manager they had pre season to allow them to appoint MG?

I'll bet Gary Neville and Co engineered this and have a Football League name in mind to take over. Probably put a s*** offer on the table knowing it would be refused. This day was always coming.

Would like to see them land on their feet at Chester. Seems a good fit

It would seem likely that now they're getting to a National League with a bit more profile, they'll be appointing a manager with a higher profile - someone to keep them at the forefront of the BBC reporting.

Pedantic and not relevant.

My point (as written above) still stands, Morley and Thingy seem to have been treated harshly.

This was always coming after Chris Casper was appointed DOF behind their backs as soon as they went full time. I've heard they weren't involved in transfers. Dreadful way to treat two loyal managers whose dream it was to be full time, whatever you think of them.

Seems harshly done but not a great surprise - I expect Salford want a bigger name for a push on league football

Yes Spen  it is true that M.G. replaced Mills, but M.G. had the majority of the season and (by his own admission) failed.

I don't know why you're picking a pointless argument with me - you are so annoying!

Spen talking about the truth yet still denies Groves 7 figure cash input into Spennymoor Town.

Speaking of spending big and failing, we could look towards Spennymoor and Jason Ainsley.

Doesn't seem fair, when they were told that promotion was a necessity, they achieved that, then they're told they're no longer required. Could have understood this if they had failed to gain promotion this season.

Have you even bothered to read why they left?

Yes I read the statement, but still think it's tough on the duo and the club should have listened more to what they proposed.

It appears I was right. York did get rid of the manager they had pre season.

Its a shame they did not get a crack at the National League - they deserved it. However maybe they were asking for more money relating to their success - I am sure they will be well compensated leaving. I think they will get another club no problem, there are plenty of teams in that area.

Post subject:  Re: Salford part company with their management team

I read it this way - but it's only conjecture.

The Salford owners now want a higher profile/bigger name management team in place or perhaps even have one lined up, however they didn't want to sack Morley and the other one, as it would look bad - so made them a paltry offer, and an offer which was loaded and unacceptable.

Let's face it, if Neville and Co had wanted the dynamic duo to stay, they would have stayed.

Where there's a will there's a way and all that.

According to Manchester Evening News, there were "irreconcilable differences" between the Class of 92 and Morley/Johnson. Scholes is polishing up his coaching badges whilst the Nevilles are looking up the word "irreconcilable".

Remember him as a player, but had to take a quick look at his record managerially.

Was 100% lined up this one.

Good appointment in my opinion - there must have been something strange going on at Scunthorpe when he got sacked when they were 5th in the League.

He's someone who could take them into League one and challenge to get in the Championship - which I presume is the goal of the class of 92.

Yeah, they hadn’t won in 8 games (won 1 in 13) and we’re in danger of falling out of the playoffs entirely despite having been in the automatic spots
