I hope we are getting some kind of fee from them then?

Good thing we play York in the league eh

Hope York are sending us a few grand to honour the agreement though.

Oh and what a great line up. Some guaranteed big crowds there I would expect!

Echo that some very good friendlies there. Leeds and Motherwell are a nice change. Curtis Main and Ryan Bowman to return to Darlo.

I wonder if they had any involvement in lining them up. Main played with Wright for a little while from what I remember.

Some interesting pre-season matches lined up - obviously Eindhoven away but Motherwell too should be good.

Been a while since we've had so many home friendlies! I wonder if there will be some sort of multi-buy ticket

I'd hope so, some of those games are quite appealing and will be well attended in my opinion.

Is Sunderland the 1st team or a select XI? The article appears to suggest both.

Never saw why we agreed the York friendly (away) as any sort of compo for Gray. I Would not have gone there on principle!

Sure it was for the David Ferguson transfer.

Could be a good idea / way to guarantee a good attendance of home fans. I'd expect Sunderland, Boro and Leeds to all bring a sizeable (by Blackwell standards) following.

It was in lieu of compensation for MG.

It'll depend if we are playing their first teams or a youth/reserve team.

What is going on with this friendly?? I don't intend to go and I was far from happy about why it was agreed in the first place, but agreed it was.

It should of been a way of us getting a little something back from YCFC re the underhand and shabby way in which they tapped up M.G.

We can't afford to let go of this income, so what is going on?

Spoke to a couple of York fans today whilst working in York. They state that the friendly would only take place if York were promoted so not in the same league.

Thanks for that darlocity. In a way I'm glad it's not going to happen - but on saying that they've kind of screwed us over again!

What income? A friendly against York would have generated next to no revenue. Wouldn't exactly be a money-spinner - a friendly against a side we'll play at least twice anyway.

So I (and evidently the club) think it can do without this income.

And with all the bad feeling towards MG it would be a total wet fart of a game anyway. The only people who'd look forward to it would have been the MG obsessives who can't let go.

Ultimately, very few people give a stuff anyway, so spare us another York/MG-related whingefest and let's look ahead to one of the freshest pre-seasons we've had in a while. Our annual trips to Whitby and Gateshead were getting a bit repetitive and monotonous.
