Really like Andy when he played for us. Just asking a question but is a GK coach normal/necessary at this level of part time football? I assume last sesaon Pears was still being coached by Boro, but if we only end up with one keeper would a GK coach be a luxury, if we had two keepers that would be different i guess? Or maybe Andy is still registered to play.divas wrote:Now he just needs a keeper to coach!
In all seriousness this sounds like a good move - wonder if he had a role to play in identifying potential keepers?! Pretty sure it was his influence that led to David Stockdale coming here
Going by Wikipedia, he's 44 years old and retired through a shoulder injury sustained with us back in 2004, I highly doubt he'll be registered to play.bga wrote:Or maybe Andy is still registered to play.
Interesting point and you are probably correct. I just don't want us to start to build a backroom staff like a certain previous Manager had...….. but I doubt that it TW's style!H1987 wrote:I'd imagine a goalkeeping coach is capable of coaching others, and not just his own specialised position?
Yes Pete, he was at York last season as a GK coach but not the senior team coach, more the juniors I think. Not sure why he left though.Darlo_Pete wrote:Great news wasn't he at York last season? He's a top guy, spoken to him on various occasions and he'll be a great addition to our coaching staff. No doubt he'll have quite a say on who we bring in.
Assume you mean 2004 - I'd have him in goal with one arm to be honestAndyPark wrote:Going by Wikipedia, he's 44 years old and retired through a shoulder injury sustained with us back in 2014, I highly doubt he'll be registered to play.bga wrote:Or maybe Andy is still registered to play.

Paid some money for a striker from the Isthmian League.Quakerz wrote:Talking of Pools, they seem to be finding it difficult to sign decent players.
Raj's reputation preceding him?
It’s one thing being offered enough though. That doesn’t make a difference if someone starts picking and choosing one day who they will and won’t pay.divas wrote:Let’s be honest most players are mercenaries and they’ll go to Hartlepool as long as they’re offered enough. I think Hartlepool’s problem is that they’re saddled with many large contracts which means until they offload then they can’t bring anyone else in. Looks like they’re actually being sensible
For those who could secure a contract elsewhere (who would also be gambling) maybe, but there’s plenty who would take a punt if it meant no other joblo36789 wrote:It’s one thing being offered enough though.
