New GK coach, welcome back.

Now he just needs a keeper to coach!

In all seriousness this sounds like a good move - wonder if he had a role to play in identifying potential keepers?! Pretty sure it was his influence that led to David Stockdale coming here

Really like Andy when he played for us. Just asking a question but is a GK coach normal/necessary at this level of part time football? I assume last sesaon Pears was still being coached by Boro, but if we only end up with one keeper would a GK coach be a luxury, if we had two keepers that would be different i guess? Or maybe Andy is still registered to play.

Going by Wikipedia, he's 44 years old and retired through a shoulder injury sustained with us back in 2004, I highly doubt he'll be registered to play.

I'd imagine a goalkeeping coach is capable of coaching others, and not just his own specialised position?

Interesting point and you are probably correct. I just don't want us to start to build a backroom staff like a certain previous Manager had...….. but I doubt that it TW's style!

No way will TW have a backroom staff even close to our previous manager as he works alongside our directors and does not make demands that would stretch us financially.

Great news wasn't he at York last season? He's a top guy, spoken to him on various occasions and he'll be a great addition to our coaching staff. No doubt he'll have quite a say on who we bring in.

Yes Pete, he was at York last season as a GK coach but not the senior team coach, more the juniors I think. Not sure why he left though.

Collett was at York last season and left a couple of months after MG came in

I’m led to believe that Gray and Collett don’t get on

Interview with Collett on the website / YouTube channel from 8:30am tomorrow morning. Interesting piece as well so worth a watch if you have a few minutes to spare.

Assume you mean 2004 - I'd have him in goal with one arm to be honest

Interesting re: Thommo being on trial and wanted by Hartlepool before signing for us. I’m sure his career is all the better for him becoming and fans favourite here rather than pillared at Poolie

Talking of Pools, they seem to be finding it difficult to sign decent players.

Raj's reputation preceding him?

Paid some money for a striker from the Isthmian League.
Had this argument with PJ the other week, saying that players will know Singhs reputation but he was adamant it wouldn't make any difference!

Let’s be honest most players are mercenaries and they’ll go to Hartlepool as long as they’re offered enough. I think Hartlepool’s problem is that they’re saddled with many large contracts which means until they offload then they can’t bring anyone else in. Looks like they’re actually being sensible

It’s one thing being offered enough though. That doesn’t make a difference if someone starts picking and choosing one day who they will and won’t pay.

For those who could secure a contract elsewhere (who would also be gambling) maybe, but there’s plenty who would take a punt if it meant no other job

He may be here to help our young keeper make the step up?

I once co-hosted a fans phone forum on Star Radio with Andy Collett, smashing guy who really loved Darlo.

Great interview with Andy Collett, open and honest. Sounds like although he will be goalkeeper coach he will be getting involved with other things as well - I've always thought it was a bit too much for Tommy and Alan to do it all themselves - so an extra pair of hands (no pun intended) will be good.

If El Hadary plays in the world cup at nearly 46 then Andy Collett must have a couple of years in him at this level! Great keeper for us.

Would be happy to see Andy on the bench, but is he still registered as a player? Seem to remember under MG's regime there was a goalkeeping coach who warmed the bench but never seemed to step up when we needed him.
