Legends game

Post by onewayup » Sun Jul 22, 2018 5:02 pm

I believe that the club needs to advertise this game in the northern echo or radio as sales seem to be very slow, I've spoken to people who don't know anything about the game or that it was a reward for that goal celebration.

What we need now is Darlo_Pete to drop in a deliberate factual error, Spen_666 to lecture us on how we should be doing ticket sales, and then me and loan_star to get into a 17-page Grampathon about which flavour water TW will be drinking on the day.

Radio is lined up & all the posters marathon bet have provided have been picked up from QR&BM by numerous supporters and are being displayed in work places, pub&clubs in every corner of town. It has also been mentioned in Echo but expect it will be in again this week.

I've not got a ticket yet, but I'm presuming the game won't be all ticket, which is probably one of the reasons that ticket sales are fairly slow.

Email media@dfc although it wouldn't surprise me if it was already on Ray's to do list

Does anyone know why David Preece and Marco Gabbiadini are listed as #MarathonBet Legends rather than Darlo legends?

Preece I would assume because it might be the other David Preece but Gabbiadini???

Perhaps there's more than enough Darlo legends and they need a few for the other side. But Gabbiadni should definitely be in the Darlo legends team.

I'm starting to wish I hadn't got a ticket to be honest.

Feels like there are just too many involved.

Well for me it is all about raising funds for the club, great to have all these x players in for this game, I have bought three tickets, I think it will be worth the money.

Current forecast is looking abysmal. Torrential rain and a storm (45mph winds). Just our luck.

Weather is looking really bad later this evening through to the game on Sunday. With the ground being so dry, there must be the potential for flooding. Hope that for once the weather forecast is wrong.

Have we had a game waterlogged at BM with the pump installed?

Nope, but the weather forecast is for continuous thunderstorms and rain. The pump may be able to cope with normal rain, but this could be far from normal rain and with the hard ground, the water may not be able to drain away like it normally does.

Does seem like a very random assortment - Jeremy Alliadiare being one of the latest 'legends' to be added.

An Arsenal reserve from 15 years ago at best. Not sure what else he achieved to be honest.

I can sort of understand the likes of Chandler and Preece - decent ex-players but hardly legends. I suppose Preece has gone on to be quite well known but more for his punditry/journalism than what he achieved as a player.

Anyway, hopefully each of these names draws a few extra people through the gate and it's a fun day for all.

Okocha v Aliadiere was a bizarre announcenent mix!

There are an awful lot of Leicester players that are signed up - how many were there at the same time as Tommy?

Well, he appears to have had 244 first team games, almost 80 for Boro?

Don’t think “Darlo versus a team of has been’s”would have sold many tickets Andy.
