Re: good on raj,
Permanent signings are only good if the players turn out decent, if they're not then they'll be a liability. I have faith that Staunton knows the type of player we need.
Re: good on raj,
His track record so far on new signings isnt exactly confidence inspiring. Keltie is probably the only one I have confidence in and thats only because we know what he can play like, lets hope he finds them shooting boots he used to wear when he first got in the Darlo side.Darlo_Pete wrote:Permanent signings are only good if the players turn out decent, if they're not then they'll be a liability. I've corrected your post so it now reads correctly.loan_star wrote: His track record so far on new signings isnt exactly confidence inspiring. Re: good on raj,
Keltie was vastly under-rated by the majority of Darlo supporters. I'm pleased we've brought him back.

Re: good on raj,
Backward step in some respects, but at least Staunton is looking at the type of players he needs.
We need to be bringing in hungry players desperate to prove themselves in professional football.
I'd get rid of Staunton, tactics are shite, and what has he delivered since arriving apart from more disappointment.

Re: good on raj,
Well you're an idiot unfortunately. He has just brought in two hungry players - listen to the interview. In another thread you called the guy soft. When people are complaining for him shouting so much on the touchline surely you can't call him soft!?darlojay wrote:Backward step in some respects, but at least Staunton is looking at the type of players he needs.

How can you get rid of him without even giving him a chance to bring in his own players.
Re: good on raj,
The fact of the matter is no one can ever say who would have done best, would CT have more points by now or has SS gained moe points than CT would have gained, no one will ever know. But what we must do is get behind SS at this present time because we have no other option. 3 new signings, lets ess what they do. We are down but if anything changes then its a miriacle and if it does then we will be all saying SS is a god.
Re: good on raj,
For what it's worth on the day he was accosted by a topless drunk in the car park I thought he was one of your better players, he's neat and tidy. I think he's the type of player who would be more effective (or would be made to look better) with good players around him as he doesn't really hurt the opposition in open play. He doesn't score any goals for one, and the first type of player you need is someone who can do that of if you are to get out the mess you are in. Backwards and sideways will only serve you well if you have people in the final third who can win you games and people in the back five (including the keeper) who can keep clean sheets.
An adequate fourth division fetcher and carrier is probably not what you need.

Re: good on raj,
pj, i dont know you, i dislike you coz you are a poolie fan, however you do talk some sense. CK is and will be a good player with good players around him. I very much doubt he will look a good player along side current DFC players and doubt he will make any dent in the current team. I hope he does but I just cant see it.

Re: good on raj,
I know what you're saying, PJ, but any 'adequate' 4th division players aside from the 3 or 4 (Foster, Miller, Gary Smith and Main, who I hope doesn't get ruined by beginning his professional career in such a shitstorm) we already have would be a good start. I agree with what you say, to a degree: with good players around him, Kelts will (generally) look tidy if not awe inspiring. However, he was one of our better players in the great escape of 03/04; if he's matured a bit he could give us something right now.
Re: good on raj,
SS thinks that loan players from higher divisons are the type of players we need. Wrong. We need a quality spine to the team and a striker that is going to get a few goalsBackward step in some respects, but at least Staunton is looking at the type of players he needs.

I have seen things and spoken to people that make me think that he is too soft on the players. Whilst I don't advocate smashing cups over players heads, I think we need someone who is going to gain the respect of his players. I don't believe Staunton has that and I don't think he has the lads fired up for the cause.
Because I don't believe he knows the right sort of players to pull us out of this. I will be the first to come on here and publically apologise if he does it. But I think the task is beyond someone of his limited experience. We still have a chance but need someone who has had this situation before. When has SS ever had something like this? How can you get rid of him without even giving him a chance to bring in his own players.
Oh and as for bringing in two hungry players, talk is cheap my friend. Lets see what they do when they are one or two nil down on a freezing day at the empty arena.
I'm desperate to be proved wrong and hate having this 'glass half empty' attitude but it's just the way I see things.

You could have got us 6 points!!!
Re: good on raj,
I doubt it (even though i am 3 time premier league champion on football manager!) but it's still better than what todd got us. I don't think he'll keep us up, but i don't think capello could either!darlojay wrote:Whoop de do!!!al_quaker wrote:6 points?darlojay wrote:what has he delivered since arriving apart from more disappointment.

Re: good on raj,
Don't write us off yet, there is still a chance slim i know but it still a chance, com'on darlo.
Re: good on raj,
In his defence, he can't bring anyone in permanently before the transfer window, so its better he at least tries to improve us with loan players than not bother at all. His signings and future targets indicate he is indeed trying to get a good spine in, he wants a gk, a few defenders and he has just brought in a cm and a striker. Hopefully the striker will get us a few, apparently he has only been not scoring recently due to being played on the wing. In his interview he certainly seems to believe he can get us goals so lets give him a chance.darlojay wrote:SS thinks that loan players from higher divisons are the type of players we need. Wrong. I think we do have a good centre midfield cover now, providing Lumsdon stays, we now have Keltie, Lumsdon, G Smith and Dempsey. If our striker can net a few, and we can get in a gk and a cb in the form of Alan White then I would be delighted.
