Sponsorship of the Arena Stadium

Post by Darlo_Pete » Sat Aug 01, 2009 8:54 am

I thought the Northern Echo's sponsorship of the ground was only until the end of last season. Does anybody know if a new sponsor has been found and if so who?

I dont know why they cant just call it Neasham Road and have done with the stupid names season after season.

If someone wants to sponsor something, let them sponsor one of the stands or something like that.

Businesses will pay a lot more to have their name on the front of stadium.

more people will see the name of a business on the front of the stadium then if you were to name each stand year after year. also skysports and all the papers saying the name of the stadium all the time  but people just call it THE ARENA
would love for it to be called feethams field but thats just me haha. we need to fill it more easy said than done  how many poeple can name all the names it has been called since it opened it !

I hope any new name change incorporates the word Arena. It wouldn't be the same if it was called something like stadium or park.

You were close hawkeye!

2003 - 2004 Reynolds Arena ( )
2004 - New Stadium
2004 - 2005 Williamson Motors Stadium
2005 - Darlington Football Stadium
2005 - 2007 96.6 TFM Darlington Arena
2007 - 2009 Balfour Webnet Darlington Arena
2009 - Northern Echo Darlington Arena

I think that's it!

PS Pete it's a stadium not an arena!

I'm sticking with White Elephant Lane because it made me laugh :D

If, for some obscure reason, Bruce Arena decided to sponsor it, would it be called the Bruce Arena Arena or would the second Arena be omitted?

Now there's a whole new debate. Discuss.

Or if Bruce Arena and Tina Arena clubbed together their finances to sponsor it, it could be called "The Arena Arena Arena"

I agree, and I dont care about the money sponsors will give us, I want a normal, steady, well run football club that works within its means and builds slowly but surely, and part of a normal football club is having a ground with a proper name!

Being normal and steady involves maximising income streams, ie if you can sell it (stadium name) you sell it.

LOL

You guys are funny!

Just remember that a few months ago we would all have happily called it the 'Ivor Weiner Arena' if someone would have given us enough money to save the club.

I know what you mean a fixed name would be nice but imagine if it was still called the Reynolds Arena... that was its first name.

I will call it the Arena whatever they call it. They might get sky and papers to roll out the sponsors name but 'The Arena' is fine for me.

How about The Nelly Blanc Arena?

If we have a team and a club they can call the arena what they like.... well apart from 'The Blackbberry and Cack Admin Arena' but anything else is fine as long as they are still playing good..... or in fact any football there!

Given that we are in a worldwide recession, who in their right minds would sponsor our ground?

I'm sticking with "The Fridge". Maybe a fridge manufacturer would want to sponsor it, The Whirpool Arena sounds good.
"At a meeting held at the Grammar School on Friday last - Mr Phillip Wood M.A., in the chair - it was resolved to form an Association Football Club for Darlington and neighbourhood. The opinions of those present were so unanimous as to the desirability of this step, that a committee was formed to complete the organisation of the club, and Mr Craven, 17, Garden Street, was appointed secretary pro tem." - The Northern Echo, Monday 23rd July 1883

We should get onto George Foreman's people, I for one would love to see the 'Leaner, Meaner Arena'
