Hear what you say Steve, but there lies our problem we just cannot seem to attract 1400 ish, its these "missing hundreds we need at home games if we can manage on a decent budget.
Its no good to us having 2000 at Spenny (they would love the additional income of course) those folk need to come down to BM first and foremost, big believer that you support the team thru thick and thin DTID

What about the phantom kickoff? That was strange.

After the Spennymoor players had finished over celebrating their second goal it looked like all their players were behind the halfway line and we kicked off, yet the ref pulled play back.

He hadn’t blown the whistle to restart the game.

What’s the verdict on the fouls for the free kicks? I’ve watched them back and I don’t think either are fouls, Kev’s camera angles pretty much prove it for me. I think Chandler trips over himself for the first and I’m pretty sure Galbraith won the ball before making contact with Williams for the second...

Yup, Chandler dived and Galbraith got a foot on the ball in the crucial incidents.

Both look like fouls on the footage to be honest. Chandler turned his body to get the foul (our players frustration would have been more with that than anything) and if Galbraith does get a tiny flick on the ball he just tackles the man really.

I think you can accept the Galbraith one as a foul, think he's gone through the man to get to the ball, but if that one on Chandler for the first free kick is a foul then football just isn't the same game anymore. He was on his way down before there was any hint of contact and when the contact did come it was so slight. Football isn't a non contact sport. At least it isn't supposed to be.

The first one is never a free kick - although the referee was falling for Spennymoors 'professionalism' the entire game, so it's no surprise he gave it. Cracking strike mind. Second one looks a foul to me. But Maddison should probably be doing better - decent strike but nowhere near the corner. Frustrating as the 2 teams were evenly matched throughout the game. On to next Saturday - not that we ever seem to pick up a result against Curzon Ashton!

I have to say that in my view first one was not a foul. However, it wasn't a dive and Chandler did not appeal for a free kick.

The second one was as much a free kick as was the penalty awarded to Darlington. In both places the tackler got the ball and the attacker went over afterwards

What I thought interesting was that the DFR commentators seemed ot accept the first free kick and diagreed with the 2nd one. The 2nd free kick shout one was the stronger of the two in my opinion

Watching the Spennymoor highlights package, its clear that Darlington were lucky to have 10 men on the pitch as shortly before the penalty, there was a clear 2 footed tackle on Henry that hurt him.

The referee never gave it. These things even themselves out. Those complaining over the free kick awarded for the "tackle" on Chandler should bear in mind the foul on Henry that wasn't given ( and the red card that should have followed).

Put simply you get some decisions and some you don't. Fans only ever remember the ones they didn't get and don't remember the ones they do get.

There was a clear decision made by Spenny to start going down easily in the second half in the final third of the pitch. They didn't do it in the first half but, particularly in the first 20 minutes or so after the break, they went over at every opportunity and the ref fell for it every time.

It's not two footed. Pause it at 1:29.

Alternatively I am intelligent enough to be interested in the work done by UNESCO and am aware of its reports in many different subjects.

But that is probably too intelligent for you to realize

Have you even read the report to know what it actually says or the context it was published in?

Or are you just ranting on about something you haven't got a clueabout

Galbraith himself said he committed the foul to prevent the player getting a shot off.

Swift and Decisive action taken by the club against transgressors at this and other recent games.

Got to applaud the club for its proactive approach

Well it would seem that the “police investigation” has ground to a halt - I mean does anyone have any news about this situation?

Was anyone really expecting the police to waste their time on this? Like according to my Facebook there are robberies and assaults happening around Darlington - expect they are busy dealing with those things than a few gestures at a football match.

I can be 100% certain...I have not worked in a role defending suspects for 20 years...so thats probably pretty good grounds for believing I have not defended anyone on drugs in that time

I suppose the police would have to waste their time on it if they ascertained that any kind of public order offence was committed - I didn't see anything myself other than the fall out, but there seemed to be plenty that did, and press reports too.

If Chandler escapes a ticking off from anyone then it makes you wonder what is and isn't acceptable re players and their on field conduct - I'm not sure he even got booked.
