Match vs Chester POSTPONED
Match vs Chester POSTPONED
Today's home game against Chester has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
After heavy overnight rain and following an inspection by a suitably qualified referee, today's game has been postponed.
No date has been set for the re-arranged fixture.

Possibly a good chance to get the new lads integrated in the squad with this delay.

And Joe Wheatley fit.
Re: Match vs Chester POSTPONED
Am not in Darlington so haven't witnessed the weather, but is this a case of rain so torrential the new(Ish) drainage couldn't cope, or is the new drainage not good enough?
Re: Match vs Chester POSTPONED
There was a lot of rain came down last night. The drainage at BM is good but even that has limits to what it can cope with.

We couldn't take the risk given the forecast. fC Utd called their home game v York off at 2.15. They will have had to have paid all those expenses out to,York.

Yeah true... Its just a shame we will lose revenue now been on a week night a sub 900/1000.And of course loss of 250/300 someone had predicted Chester would of brought.lolVodka_Vic wrote:We couldn't take the risk given the forecast. fC Utd called their home game v York off at 2.15. Damned if it's called off or if it isn't. Imagine turning up at 2.30 and it's off. All the travelling exiles, chester, their support, caterers who would be affected. The ref inspecting it called it as he saw it. You'd be cheesed off even if you'd walked there! Watched the news tonight and can't believe the flooding.

The forecast was so grim that many would have stayed away anyway. I think the right decision was made.HarrytheQuaker wrote: ↑Sun Mar 17, 2019 4:14 pmYeah true... Re: Match vs Chester POSTPONED
It was a good decision to call the game off early, as it was far too big a risk to wait to see if the rain stopped and the pitch recovered before kick-off. Also the crowd would have been down on what was expected, as fans from both clubs would have decided not to risk travelling.
