Peter skipper
Peter skipper
Sad to hear one of our legends of the early 1980s has passed away I'm sure he was team captain if my memory serves me right around the time of our financial woes in 1982 - r.i.p Peter.
Re: Peter skipper
That is sad. One of my heroes from when I first started going to Feethams as a 10/11 year old. Smudger, Speedie, and Dave McLean in the team around that time too if memory serves. Only 61 years old.

Re: Peter skipper
That's very sad news and a player I remember well. Very sad news for someone so young.
Re: Peter skipper
I watched him play in that team. Billy Elliot managed to get a half-decent side going after a decade of middling to poor stuff. There was an epic full-house beating of Pools on boxing day 1980 and a definite hint of promotion that season but the club had to sell him - to Hull - and Speedie of course to Chelsea. There was only Alan Walsh left up front and a bloke called Stalker after they'd gone. It was felt that the team missed 'Skip' more than Speedie - strong skillful ball winner in mid-field. Just what we need now.
Re: Peter skipper
Finished just 6 points off promotion in 1981, then dropped to 13th (30 points adrift) at the end of 81/82 even though Skipper and Speedie were still both in the side (they both left at the end of that season).Wiseacre wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2019 10:04 amI watched him play in that team. Re: Peter skipper
Hopefully the club will do a minutes silence for him on Saturday, he deserves it.
Re: Peter skipper
I think these minutes silences are becoming monotonous I think minutes applause is much more respectful these days.

Pretty sure Skipper was a centre half.Wiseacre wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2019 10:04 amI watched him play in that team.
