BM or HP
Not that we can move back to HP, but I was wondering which ground you prefer Blackwell Meadow or Heritage Park?

I just don't see the point in this really.

Re: BM or HP
I think it will show how many of our fans don't like BM.
Re: BM or HP
I continue to not see the point in this. What would be the benefit of finding out people don't like bm? Will it suddenly generate 5 million quid out of nowhere?

Re: BM or HP
And what do we do with that information? You should have added the Arena is a 3rd options as well then.Darlo_Pete wrote: ↑Sat Apr 27, 2019 8:48 pmI think it will show how many of our fans don't like BM.
Re: BM or HP
Or south park, we could play there if everyone decides they don't like bm.

Re: BM or HP
We already know that generally people don't mind BM but can't see how we develop it with the pipe and the constant challenges of the Rugby Club.
However knowing that doesn't change anything, unless you have an alternative?
Re: BM or HP
Holy s***, it's going to be a long close season........
Re: BM or HP
I'm particularly looking forward to the "we need somebody who has a passion for the club" chat, and various calls for ex-players to return.
First person to suggest reece styche as player manager wins a Toblerone.

Can’t remember a more pointless post but I’m willing to bet it was one of yours,Darlo_Pete wrote: ↑Sat Apr 27, 2019 8:40 pmNot that we can move back to HP, but I was wondering which ground you prefer Blackwell Meadow or Heritage Park?
Re: BM or HP
You don't need to go out and buy a Toblerone tdk, just get the one off Simon Ainge's head.
Re: BM or HP
If you must do this, at least get the name of the ground right, Pete.

Re: BM or HP
Come on man, give your head a shake...
As nice a little ground as HP is, it is not in Darlo, I would rather watch Darlo in Darlo, not 12 miles away with the inevitable decline in support
I dont like BM personally, but that is not going make me vote for HP.

Re: BM or HP
I went in the seats for the first time last week and they're actually pretty good, the view is decent. A steeper terrace at the a66 end (or at least on the part without the pipe) and it wouldn't be too bad. Its a pisser that we can't do anything down the pavilion side, but the food is something that can be worked on and we've already made some progress.

Re: BM or HP
This poll’s been started by the person who two days ago thought it was pointless discussing who would take over from Tommy Wright - as there wasn’t a vacancy.

On the flip side, I dont live in darlo, so coming to games means travelling either way, and despite it being further I preferred HP.murtonquaker wrote:Come on man, give your head a shake...

That said, a poll stating do you prefer BM or HP is not the same as showing our fans dislike BM, si I'd still agree it's pointless

Reece Styche as player manager

Re: BM or HP
All it proves is that people preferred match experience at HP.
There are many factors to that;
- we won a lot more games at Heritage Park
- there was more (illegal) elevation at Heritage Park
But also;
- we had less revenue streams at Heritage Park
- it wasn’t in Darlo
- we would be playing in them EvoStik unable to be promoted if at Heritage Park
I prefer watching us in the NLN than NPL so it’s BM for me.

Re: BM or HP
BM is far better.
I had a much better viewpoint at HP because I always stood on the (out of bounds) embankment.
When the embankment was enforced close (as it was supposed to be every game), the view was the same as BM.

Re: BM or HP
This is what I can't get my head round too. I have been to BM twice now and I'll admit, that yesterday felt like the ground was slightly more like a football ground - the last time I was there was before the extended seating existed. Of the flat areas I think what people forget is the proximity of the playing surface to the terraces, this is why I'm guessing people complain about viewing matches there, it's the perception of feeling further away from the action. Other than that I think it's adequate enough for the time being.
"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"
Re: BM or HP
Absolutely mental. Darlington fans ability to moan never ceases to amaze.
Objectively, Blackwell is now better in every single way than Heritage Park, other than the memories associated with it.
I liked HP, but the bar was smaller, the seating capacity was far worse, the tinshed was smaller, the overall capacity was smaller, we had no branding and no income there at all, and it wasn’t in Darlington!

Re: BM or HP
Disagree - the view from the stands was better at HP than is at BM, and similarly the flat standing view was better at HP.H1987 wrote: Objectively, Blackwell is now better in every single way than Heritage Park, other than the memories associated with it.
But a pointless thread - we are at BM for the foreseeable future. It’s an awful place to watch football in my opinion, with terrible views all around the ground, but it is what it is and we just have to deal with it for now
Re: BM or HP
I disagree. My view is infinitely better than it was at HP stood on a grass bank piecing the game together between two dugouts.al_quaker wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2019 9:47 amDisagree - the view from the stands was better at HP than is at BM, and similarly the flat standing view was better at HP.H1987 wrote: Objectively, Blackwell is now better in every single way than Heritage Park, other than the memories associated with it.

Re: BM or HP
Again, disagree, depend on where you sit I guess but certainly where I sit at BM versus HP it’s no different.
Plus there were only 200 odd seats along the side at HP and there are more than double at BM which gives more people chance of a better view than they had at HP

Re: BM or HP
Yes all fair points. It’s individual preference at the end of the day!
I only really enjoy the view at football with some proper height down the side. It was refreshing to stand pitch side for a while at HP, but I am over that personally.
So I’ve resigned myself to probably never enjoying the view at home matches again. I can’t see how we will ever get a proper stand built at BM, or elsewhere due to finances. Which is somewhat depressing, but it is what it is.

Re: BM or HP
If for example we develop the open end with a terrace or seated stand in order to get the capacity above 4,000, then a 6 or 8 row deep stand will simply not give us the required extra capacity.
So we'll have to build a "proper stand" as you call it, at some point.

Re: BM or HP
Yes - behind the goal though. Getting something built at the open end will improve the place no doubt, but it won’t make me enjoy home games any more. Like I said, it’s all individual preferences though. I fully accept some people will think the BM experience is great and I’m moaning, but that’s how I feel.

I agree, I really don't like BM at all.
