Re: Released players
Parkin can't run anymore - he'd be worse than Bernie Slavin
Re: Released players
He's staying full-time but this time with Carlsberg.

Re: Released players
A play off finalist as a player and as a coach and later manager a top 10 finish with a young team and carried on despite getting various s*** from the cowboys running the club including late payment of wages, players sold behind his back etcquakerste wrote:What did Clarke achieve at Gateshead?

Re: Released players
Doubtless South Shields will be priming their chequebooks too. Spennymoor will need an eighth-choice central defender and sixth-choice keeper too.
But definitely a few good players from Gateshead I'd like to see end up with us too.
Jon Mellish and Robbie Tinkler were excellent in defence. Tom White is a handy midfielder too, as is Greg Olley.

Re: Released players
Maybe we have to "release" a few ourselves first when new Manger arrives before we can sign anyone? Stating the obvious I know. Or can the Board and AW not make some decisions now?

Re: Released players
I doubt the players who are out of contract will be hanging around to see if they can earn a new contract with a new manager, the squad wan't good enough at the end of the day, so we need to get rid of all the players out of contract.bga wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2019 7:56 pmMaybe we have to "release" a few ourselves first when new Manger arrives before we can sign anyone? Whilst tinkler and mellish are top young players and would be a great addition for darlo there has been interest from conference and league 2 clubs and i hope they get a move higher upDarlogramps wrote:Doubtless South Shields will be priming their chequebooks too. Re: Released players
Won't disagree. Doesn't mean I wouldn't want to see them in a Darlo shirt.shildonlad wrote:Whilst tinkler and mellish are top young players and would be a great addition for darlo there has been interest from conference and league 2 clubs and i hope they get a move higher upDarlogramps wrote:Doubtless South Shields will be priming their chequebooks too. Re: Released players
Mellish, Olley, Rigg, Tinkler and White would be very good at this level, so hopefully we can maybe snag 1 or 2 of them

Re: Released players
Isn't Parkin about 246 yrs old and about 38 stone now...Not sure what he would bring to the team apart from a takeaway and a slab of LCL after a matchD_F_C wrote:Thread for some potential signings.

Re: Released players
Parslow could do a job as back up if fully fit - certainly preferable to Jonny Burn but I’d assume his wages might be a stumbling block

Re: Released players
I'm guessing taking players from York, the big question is, will they be interested in leaving Professional Football to sign Semi-Pro for usNimrod wrote:Parslow could do a job as back up if fully fit - certainly preferable to Jonny Burn but I’d assume his wages might be a stumbling block

Re: Released players
So given we have not issued a "Released List" are we to assume all players TW signed last summer got 2 year contracts...……………..oh NO!.PierremontQuaker03 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2019 8:01 pmI doubt the players who are out of contract will be hanging around to see if they can earn a new contract with a new manager, the squad wan't good enough at the end of the day, so we need to get rid of all the players out of contract.bga wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2019 7:56 pmMaybe we have to "release" a few ourselves first when new Manger arrives before we can sign anyone? Re: Released players
I've seen them both play, neither will be getting another full time contract.murtonquaker wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2019 8:36 pmI'm guessing taking players from York, the big question is, will they be interested in leaving Professional Football to sign Semi-Pro for usNimrod wrote:Parslow could do a job as back up if fully fit - certainly preferable to Jonny Burn but I’d assume his wages might be a stumbling block

Could probably get one more season out of Parslow. Committed, experienced defender and a leader on the pitch, his age and a injury lay offs are starting to get the best of him now but he'd be a shout on a 'pay as you play' kind of deal or alongside some kind of coaching role.
Parkin is done. He's practically admitted it himself. Seems set on forging a career in the media now, has a podcast he seemed more committed to than playing.
Be interesting to see what happens with Bartlett though.

So get Ben Clarke in and half a dozen decent Heed lads and its job done
Not all clubs announced released/retained list they just get on with it player by player. We will largely need a manager first before we can do too much.
Re: Released players
Chester have released:
Jamal Crawford
Alex Downes
George Green
Rhain Hellawell
Steven Howson
Connor King
Sean McAllister
Ben McKenna
Jon Moran
John Pritchard
Dominic Smalley
Would have Mckenna, always looks dangerous against us. George Green is meant to have ability but has struggled with injury

Re: Released players
Would think that Watson at York will get first call on Heed players he wants. But would have no problems with there management duo arriving.
Re: Released players
Only one I would want from York is Bartlet. They weren't very much better than us this season although they were full time.
Re: Released players
He'd be another Henshall I think. All the potential years ago but doesn't seem to be able to actually fulfill it anywhere he has been. It's a risk and one which rarely pays off when you look at his track record.
He was originally from Halifax (I think) before moving to Everton so I don't know where his next move will be geographically.
Nobody else on that list jumps out at me Howson is pretty old and slow now and Dom Smalley I think has been on loan at Hyde this season.
Re: Released players
See I'd be happy to have a loan keeper as our first choice next season. All the loan keepers we have had the past couple of seasons have been very good / wanted to prove a point. It seems a really sensible place to save some money.
Where is that lad who was from Darlington who was on Newcastle's books? I am sure I read he may have moved on but I am not sure where to. EDIT: I have just found him...he got released from Newcastle and is now on Manchester United books - I wonder if there could be a loan opportunity from there again?

Re: Released players
He's at Man U. Forgot his name but saw him at Brackley a couple of years back.
Woolston?
Woolston?
Re: Released players
I'd still be interested in Ferguson if he became available too. Think he signed on an 18 month deal for them so he would be one that needs a contract renewal this summer. Can play anywhere on the left side so covers a couple or positions.
Wouldn't want Parkin or Parslow. Both a bit past their best.
