Just seen an interview with blyth chairman Tony Platten on Look North in which he had a go at AA after it was mentioned that Lee Clark is virtually starting from scratch after lots of players have left. Platten said: "Four or five weeks ago the previous manager should have been signing those players for the options they had on their contracts. He didn't and we were left in that situation."

Let's be honest as chairman he would have been in a position to drive this through if he wanted to. And he made no mention of the budget/wage cuts at the club which have clearly been brought in. His comments are obviously aimed at getting the fans back on his side after all the flak.

So much for the "can't say anything due to legal processes". Looks like that has fizzled out like we thought it would.

Also, and I realise this could come back to bite me, Lee Clark is total dogshit as a manager and will be gone by Christmas.

It'll end in tears, I reckon. The guy has no experience managing at this level, and i doubt he has the adequate contacts, nor the ability to work within Blyth's budget, which is supposedly quite a bit lower than ours. I think he won't last the season. They might stop on, on the basis that only two sides go down this year, and honestly i'd like a north eastern side to stay in the division... but i wouldn't be so sure. They could sink like a stone.

Extra fans only come along via a slow build up of a club in the community or winning every week.

A big name as manager brings nothing if you aren't winning.

Theres loads of managers done well at conference level who have never managed at that level before, everyone has to start somewhere. However usually such folk have gained experience and knowledge of that level by either coaching or playing. Theres been some big names managing in the conference and lower down who have failed. Kevin davies (southport), brian little (gainsborough) etc spring to mind. But hey any new managers a risk. If lee clark keeps them up he’s done well

I see the little tizzy about Armstrong leaving has all been forgotten. Face saving exercise, one suspects. As for them moaning he didn't get players signed up for next season, wasn't this because they were slashing his budget, and then only raised about 1k to boost their budget from the fans?

I'd be fairly certain just staying in the division is all they will be hoping for next year. Maybe he can get a few loans in to help them out.

Interesting reading the notes from the Q&A at Blyth end of season awards. Tony Platten doesn't give too much away, but sounds like they're trying to build a case around the fact Armstrong failed to exercise the option in player contracts, then went on to sign them himself. Can't see much legs in it tbh. Our board extended Nicholson's and Trotman's contract without a manager in place. Sounds like they're having to cut their cloth, couldn't afford their top talent and are using this as an excuse at to why decent players have left for free.

One that they signed on a dual registration has already left to join Whitley Bay.

Some proper weird signings, but then a couple of decent ones. Very strange.
