old programmes

Post by bigdavethemaddog » Thu May 23, 2019 6:21 pm

did anybody look into the possibility of the club selling donated old programmes to raise funds for the club? i have a few i want rid of but dont want to bin them if it could earn the club a few quid? surely there is room for a small box/table in the corner of the club shop on a matchday? every penny is precious

Sounds like you've got yourself a job as old programme seller Dave!! Why don't you contact someone and offer your services?

I have around 160 programmes, approx 90 of which are DFC, that I'd be willing to donate for the benefit of the club.

I have around 700 programmes that I would be happy to donate, if anyone is prepared to give their time to sell them? The big issue is likely to be where to store them given that we are only allowed to use BM on match days, as it would be difficult to transport them back and forward on each occasion.

It's a great idea. It brings in the interest of away fans too. Curzon Ashton has its own dedicated programme hut where everything is sorted into sections. They also sell off old Man City programmes for very cheap with an agreement with City. Something we could do with local big team programmes maybe. There were a few erections had in there, I tell you. However, I'm not sure how we'd do it logistically. We just don't have the space in QR and you would need another bigger unit.

Great idea if the logistics could be sorted.
I would be willing to donate my old collection of programmes. Going back further than I care to remember but including what I consider iconic moments in the clubs history, Bolton match, 5th round league cup against Derby County, Arsenal cup game,Everton, both play-off finals, Trophy final and many more.

Its a shame we can't have some facility within the boundaries of the ground to have a set up like this. Always seems to be a case of they don't want any evidence we are there on non match days.

at Leeds they have a converted caravan and trailer that turn up each matchday and they sell old programmes out of that.

Tbh this does sound like something which could be set up online to help with the logistics.

Upload a photo of your programmes to a searchable e-library. If there is a buyer for your programme take it to the club so it is available for collection.

Might make it easier for people to find and saves on logistics of storage - and for those who are not on line and get inspired on a match day that could be operated via a tablet or something so someone could ‘virtually’ look at the library...

If I had the skill set I would offer to help but I’m more used to design aspects than delivery though - leave that to the devs.

I'm sure I have most of the 1971/2 and following season gathering dust in my loft. Could be a good way for them to go.

Can any fans help out with a request over Twitter. A Worcester FC fan is looking for a program from our home game V them on 26/10/2016. Looking to commemorate the first game for his new born son aged 6 days old. We knacked them 5-1 so guess it would be nice to give something back.

I have had a request from a fan can anyone help me out please ? Sure someone will have it needed to complete a full season

1980/1981 season March 17th 1981. Darlington FC v Wimbledon FC.

What is unique about this programme is the original game was postponed from Jan 17th and when the game was finally played, the original

programme was used and an, “insert” was put inside the old programme.
