I'd heard that the pitch just needs a good shower on it and it'll play fine. Think it needs to be assessed in the upcoming friendlies before we start with all the accusations
Weather forecast looks like it may be useful to the pitch - plenty of rain in the next 48 hours but may put off some fans attending.

Two points to note
The pitch does not look to have been fertilised this summer to encourage growth and spread of the grasses on the pitch.
It does not look as if it has been cut much either, because fertiliser plus a weekly cut would have produced a far better surface
Obviously watering would have helped.
The goalmouths have been seeded but are still full of sand. They were meant to lift the turf from behind the goal areas and lay that in the goal and reseed where the turf had come from.
The areas where the linesmen run are also full of sand and dont even look like they have been reseeded.
Whether this is down to not wanting to spend the money or down to cutting costs is anyones guess.

As I heard it, the grounds man wanted to do this but it would take significant extra time above his normal hours but the rugby club refused to pay him the extra money and he wasn’t prepared to take the blame for things not being right.

Some one mentioned that the rugby club has spent €8k in the close season on the pitch and we have to pay half that. If this is true and it looks like little has actually been done then our club need to challenge the cost as something does not add up (rugby club were supposed to cover the cost of the groundsmen etc). Let's hope they are not trying to wrangle more money out of us or are the rugby club having financial problems again?

There's plenty of rain forecast for tomorrow, which should help.

Grass is too long and pitch needs more water on it so the team can play the style Armstrong wants according to his interview.

Hopefully Armstrong gets some improvements, it did look better today but it is and has been a really slow & dry pitch.

Have to say I missed the Motherwell game, so yesterday was my first chance to see the pitch. But after all the gloom and despondency in this thread I was expecting the pitch to look far worse yesterday. I know it's not perfect but it didn't look a mile off being ok and it didn't stop both sides playing some good passing football.

Because the pitch has had two weeks to recover, and the new groundsman has been able to work on it after the grass was left pretty much all summer.

Amateurish by the Rugby Club, but wouldn’t expect anything less.

Thought the pitch looked better on Saturday, the grass looked a decent length and the lines were far better marked. Not perfect but far better.

To be the fair the pitch looked very good on Saturday much better than most grounds we will play at this season.
