Finally an achievement in the FA Cup & Trophy
Well when I say achievement I mean they are paying teams that lose in the rounds some cash also.
So if we go out in the 2nd round qualifier in the FA Cup and 3rd round preliminary in the FA Trophy we will at least earn some money.
FA Cup 2nd round qualifier losers - £2,250
FA Trophy losers 3rd round preliminary - £1,250
So that's £3.5k more than we got last year, even if we just got the same results
The FA get some negative but they have put more prize money in the non league rounds recently and adding money for the losers will really help the clubs at the non league steps. I do think this is a good move for all clubs.

Re: Finally an achievement in the FA Cup & Trophy
Folk say the fa need to do more to stop so many non league clubs going under but this extra prize money is a step in a right direction. Mind not everyone will be happy as even less (if any) step 6 sides get to enter the fa cup now but with restructuring the fa needs to have a cut off point somewhere as they only have so much to give out for prize money
I may not live in the north east anymore but i still support the north east teams

I know we nearly always fail in cup competitions and any money would be welcome, but is it only me that thinks it is strange for the FA to reward failure?

Thing is Pete, in the qualifying rounds it is very feasible for a home team team to lose money from staging an FA Cup or Trophy match. Maybe not at our level, but certainly Northern League clubs it is quite possible that gate receipts don't cover the referees expenses and away teams travel costs. So the money provided by the FA ensures that the tie is viable win or lose.Darlo_Pete wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 8:06 amI know we nearly always fail in cup competitions and any money would be welcome, but is it only me that thinks it is strange for the FA to reward failure?

Fair point I hadn't thought of that.Maurice_Peddelty wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 8:31 amThing is Pete, in the qualifying rounds it is very feasible for a home team team to lose money from staging an FA Cup or Trophy match. Re: Finally an achievement in the FA Cup & Trophy
Not sure if it is changing this year, but last year it was
The Prize money from last season was:-
Extra Preliminary £2,250 (Winning side); £750 (Losing side)
Preliminary £2,890 (Winning side); £960 (Losing side)
First Round Qual £6,000
Second Round Qual £9,000
Third Round Qual £15,000
Fourth Round Qual £25,000
First Round Proper £36,000
Second Round Proper £54,000
Third Round Proper £135,000
Fourth Round Proper £180,000
Fifth Round Proper £360,000
Quarter Final £720,000
Semi Final (Winner) £1,800,000
Semi Final (Loser) £900,000
Final (Runners-Up) £1,800,000
Final (Winner) £3,600,000
A run to the First Round can potentially be around 50 stacks

That is a little misleading spin.shildonlad wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 7:46 am….. Mind not everyone will be happy as even less (if any) step 6 sides get to enter the fa cup now but with restructuring the fa needs to have a cut off point somewhere as they only have so much to give out for prize money
The same number of non league teams enter the FA Cup as in previous years. The recent restructuring has meant more teams at levels 1-5 than previous.
There is no change in the number of non league sides getting entry to the FA Cup.
Re: Finally an achievement in the FA Cup & Trophy
Spen is correct. The no of entries is fixed at 736 as was last year.

Re: Finally an achievement in the FA Cup & Trophy
I think the point was that there are less or no step 6 clubs? Not that there are less non-league sides entered.
Re: Finally an achievement in the FA Cup & Trophy
No it’s all a smokescreen as a lot of step 6 clubs are now at step 5 as a consequence of the new step 3 league. They all shifted up.
