Funny things that have happened when watching Darlo!!

Post by Darlo_Pete » Wed Oct 23, 2019 9:33 pm

Well I reckon the funniest things I've seen when watching Darlo are as follows.

Doncaster away, force 10 gale blowing down the pitch. Doncaster keeper was forced to kick the ball out of his hands into the wind. The ball went straight up into the air & it went behind him for a corner, before it had even landed on the pitch. The look on their keepers face was priceless.

We were playing at home to poolie at Feethams & one of their players fell injured right in front of the Darlo fans. As the ref came over to see the player & physio to see how bad the injury was, a Darlo fan threw a miniature gallows with a monkey attached on the pitch next to the injured player. The ref & player laughed out loud.

1998/99 season at home to Rotherham two lads were being escorted out of the Tin Shed by two stewards followed by a third carrying a till, to this day I don't know what went on there!

1999/00 season Worthington Cup first round first leg tie at home to Bolton Mr Q fell over while running off the pitch as the players came back out for the second half he reached out to a Bolton for help but he just laughed at him.

1999/00 season also home to Halifax the week before we played Villa away in the FA Cup bitterly cold winters day and a flock of geese flew over from the South Park and the Tin Shed started doing the dam busters tune.

Final home game of the 2003/04 season against Swansea a steward was chasing a kid around the front of the West Stand and fell over to a massive cheer from the crowd.

Tin Shed. A copper was walking through and the crowd started singing 'We hate coppers'. The crowd suddenly stopped apart from one guy who carried on singing but thought everyone else was going to carry on too. The Shed went quiet as the copper gave this lad daggers.

be in the mid 80's. an older physio for the opposition ran onto the pitch in front of the Polam end to attend to a player. mid run he turned his head towards the polam end, coughed and coughed his false teeth out....but caught them one handed in one smooth motion and promptly stuck them back in.

Mr Singh said this " I'm not expecting to get back any of the money I've already put in, I'm prepared to write it off for the future of the club. I'm not hanging in to make any kind of financial gain in the short or long term - if someone was prepared to come in and take the club off my hands, I'd be more than willing to discuss it"
