Spennymoor Away

Post by pastandpresent » Tue Dec 31, 2019 7:44 am

Did I read somewhere this game is all ticket? If it is with Quaker Retail being closed where can we get tickets?

No the game is not all ticket, pay on the gate, however it will be segregated.

It was stated as all ticket on that “Brewery Field “site on the home page on here which is where you will have seen it.
Load of bullshit by some Spendy wind up merchant apparently.

Yeah, some of the Spendy supporters like polarbear and whoever pretends to be Tony Wilson are obsessed with our crowds so it's just a sad sac way of putting a few Darlo fans off. As far as they are concerned, if the all ticket thing gets around and is believed, even if it puts 50 Darlo fans off it will be worth it. Anything to lessen our improbably large following. Even to the detriment of their own club's finances.
We are Darlo! We know our shitt! If we say it's 1-2-0-1-1-3-0-1-1 then you better believe it! La la la oo, la la la oo (clap, clap, clap, clap)

I reckon we'll fill the away end up, should be a great day out. Spendy are just envious of our away support, I'm sure we can act as a 12th man & cheer on the team to a great result.

Have they actually announced the details yet? I imagine it will be the same segregation as previous visits, but with their ground developments who knows. They said details would be announced “in due course” but I can’t see anything yet, which is surprising considering the game is...tomorrow

No they haven't yet but obviously will have to at some point today. They've so far just concentrated on 5 reasons why you should be there to support Spennymoor.

Perhaps it’s a Baldrick like cunning plan to deter away fans. They will announce tomorrow that the game is all ticket for away fans but they are not allowed to sell any on the day of the match. After all they don’t need our cash with their massive fan base and sponsorship.

Maybe they don't quite know what to do. If they give us the new stand behind the goal and part of the dug-out side it means there isn't a lot in the way of official standing areas for their own fans. It's a consequence of converting the standing area behind the other goal into seats.

We are basically getting the side bit

Our website wrote:Our supporters will have the entire west end terrace. The disabled and seated will be seated by stewards in the Motif8 stand where a block has been allocated. The supporters will have access to food and refreshments (inc alcohol).

The capacity of that side is not sufficient to safely accommodate the number of fans that will be travelling. It's ridiculous and potentially dangerous. It should have been made all ticket if they were going to do this.

Has that side been redeveloped? If it hasn’t then it could be carnage if similar numbers travel as have done in the past

The capacity of the entire ground is 3,000 and they are attempting to potentially put 1,000 on one very restricted side of the ground. We should have been allocated the new stand behind the goal. That would have been the safest and most logical step.

I think some redevelopment took place, if not they would struggle to make the 3k stadium capacity requirement.

Main East Stand 250 seats (400 say on side bits next to main stand)
Pond North Stand 489 seats
South New stand - it seems smaller than tin shed but lets guess at 1,000 capacity
West Stand (where we are) - Needs to be around 1,000 really

That give 3,039 in total, all rough guesses.

The guide is here https://spennymoortownfc.co.uk/visit-us/ground-guide-2/

Well if it holds 1000 then it will probably be ok, if snug. However, it does seem foolish not to make it all ticket, and I hope it all passes off safely. Having it non all ticket when the away attendance isn’t going to be that far away from the away capacity seems a silly risk to take. It seems quite amateurish organisation from a club who normally seem quite professional off the pitch. Surprising.

This is a potential safety issue as they want to cram half of the crowd into an area that is simply not big enough. We need more space and if there are any issues arising from this poorly thought out decision Spenny are to blame. I would urge our officials to contact Spenny to highlight their concern prior to the game.
At the very least many of our fans will have a poor experience with a restricted view. At worst somebody will get hurt and/ or there will be trouble if our fans try to infiltrate areas that are supposed to be for home supporters. Very poor decision if correct

This could well be a lock out .Absolutely ridiculous allocation of space given they know full well that we will have over a thousand travelling.
Obviously keeping their new stand for the 40 or so Spendy fans that will fill it.

I am guessing at the capacity to be honest as it doesn't mention the 1k on the guide but officially it must be up there to 1k for the stadium to be anywhere near 3k in total.

Whether we get good site lines at 1k on that side is a different question.

If I remember correctly part of the terrace was closed when we played them last season. The area past the dugouts down to the covered end behind the goal was not in use. Hope that has been rectified.

This is an extremely poor decision and you suspect comfort and welfare of our fans hasn't been the main driver. No wonder it wasn't revealed until the last minute.

It looked pretty busy against Gateshead to be fair, not rammed but busy and the sides looked busy also. It's going to be very cosy tomorrow.

Yes I agree the maths suggests it must be about 1k. And like you say the sight lines are likely to be awful, but what can we do (and BM hardly offers good sight lines for big away followings - not that we get them very often!)

As long as it’s safe and everyone who travels can get in, that’s the main thing.

This decision is guaranteed to lead to trouble, as some idiots will go into the Spennymoor areas, especially if the gates are closed for Darlo fans. I'd hope common sense will prevail & when they realise there are too many fans for the West Terrace, they'll allow Darlo fans into their new stand. I agree with others that the club needs to be making strong representations to Spennymoor, to get this decision overturned.

I'd imagine that the capacity exceeds 3,000 after the extensive ground improvements. You can't tell me that it holds less than BM.

That side was around 5/6 steps deep wasn't it? If so, full length of the pitch it should accommodate 1,000 easily?

We only took c800 the last two times.
