This matter should have been resolved sometime ago, it's not like we didn't know he was joining us in January & we should have foreseen this problem before now.
Pete, I suggest you either offer your services to the club or stop with the constant moaning.
Does the club have a vacancy for Pete's services? What are they exactly...
He could be Manager of the Hindsight Dept of the club
I do like that

Talking of strikers, I bet Reece Styche was less than impressed by manager Russell Slade's comments after they lost 2-0 at the weekend when he said "Our problem is our lack of a 12-15 goal a season striker. We really need one". Fans don't like him much either.

Worse than that, they now boo him when he comes on as sub. Certainly he does not warrant his alleged £800/week.

Owld Marmite Styche. Certainly has more failures than success stories at the clubs he’s been at. No doubt Tommy knew how to make him tick and many others obviously don’t. How much that impacted on the rest of the squad though we’ll never know.

You get the feeling that Hereford may eventually pay a heavy price in the fall-out out from this season. They clearly decided to give it a real go and it was reported they were set to have a footballing budget of around £700K. They really splashed the cash and assembled a huge squad of players, clearly some on big money, and it all seems to have gone wrong with the fans in despair and turning on manager and players.

It certainly makes you wonder what wage he was on at Darlo?

A Hereford fan told me it was a grand a week. They are also less than impressed by Nicholson's contributions.

He ticked for a while but in the last few months of his stay he was appalling with the added problem of appearing lazy and selfish at the same time.

Brilliant at the start though, I give him that.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has heard suggestions that he can be a bit of a difficult character, particularly if things aren't going well. And taking the captaincy off Turnbull and handing it to Styche wasn't TW's finest decision. Having said all that, as we saw, he can lead the front line very well and can create goals out of nothing when he's happy, feeling loved and things are going his way. Clearly Boost the Budget didn't stretch very far when we had players like Styche and Nicholson.

It’s got a bit off topic but for its worth I would not have Styche back. He has a record of doing well when first joining a club then falling away and moving on. Suspect he has a big ego and is potentially a disruptive character and difficult to manage.

I don't really see how that would fit into our budget as we'd have blown nearly 15% on one player. Especially as it was widely reported that Hereford offered an uplift in salary to move there I don't think he took a pay cut.

well if he is on £1000 per week with a shorter commute that certainly looks like an uplift to me.

Tommy spunked a load on Ainge too.

Good point.
Made me wonder if that was part of the reason Turnbull left.

Turnbull left because he was told he wouldn’t be first choice after the arrival of Liam Hughes :wtf:

Did not know that, words fail me, stupid decision by Wright and proof if ever we needed it that this was one clueless manager who would have got us relegated if he had not been shown the door.
I still cannot fathom out what he had against the majority of our local players and why he wanted them out of the club.

There were rumours about Turnbull and Shields long before Wright came in from what I remember though? Suggested he wanted to move there as closer to home and slightly less travelling for same money.

Thought the same with Gillies as well?

What's happened to Gillies, not getting his game for SS, just wondering if he is injured.

Ron, I guess all mangers have their favourites. They then repaid him by missing training of course. Liam Hughes then followed Tommy to Stratford, who he took from a play-off place last year to relegation candidates.
He's now at Melton Mowbray managing Mansfield's U23s.

I suspect Tommy is quite a good youth coach. Just from his demeanour etc.

He’s not capable of managing a competitive semi professional team though. Nice bloke but the writing was on the wall with us for a while.

We’re so much more professional now... and I’m afraid to say, I think we were before when Gray was here. We regressed under TW.

Cheers Adam, I think Thommo probably would have walked if things had remained the same under Tommy, seemed he had lost the dressing room.
Very happy the way things are going with AA, good players, good football, great dressing room, local lads again.

Well, are we? If not now, when??

No one knows what the players are on as it’s sensitive however the playing budget at £330k is very similar to last year under Tommy. Remember Tommy had to sell 3 times the FA Cup windfall of £100k has saved AA from that scenario or he may had been in the same situation as Tommy was in Jan/Feb.

1 We have not made 100k from the FA cup - we've made 70k in prize and TV money, before VAT.
2 It's hard to say what we made from the crowds, as for example a few hundred x £6 average in the first couple of away matches, minus travelling and match official costs, divided by 2 probably equals next to nowt.
3 OK the home match was watched by 3,000 but lets say 3,000 at a tenner average, minus match officials, away travel, extra security and police...then divided by two (in fact I think it's 45% of the remainder for each side) and it's not hard to see us clearing only around 10 grand - before VAT of course.
4 In other words, it's unlikely to all add up to 100k, the best thing to do is stick with what we know, and that's 70k prize & tv money.
5 Whether it's 70k, 80k or the 100k that you reckon - before VAT - it's not a "windfall"
6 A massive point you're missing here is that Tommy started with whatever budget he had, wasted it on pea hearted shite, consequently we got poor results and projected income dropped, therefore he had to offload Styche and Syers to reduce the budget - BUT, AA started off with a smaller budget, and that has been added to thanks to...wait for it...getting cup results!!

You seem to be claiming that without this (smaller than you think) "windfall" that AA would have been in the same position as TW last season, in having to flog players - not so IMO, as his budget started off smaller and we couldn't have added to it if extra income hadn't been brought in. AA would simply have had to have dealt with it.

Comparing AA and TWs budget situations is like comparing chalk and cheese, just as it would be if we compared their recruitment, squad depth, results, playing style, tactics, heart, and everything else.
We are Darlo! We know our shitt! If we say it's 1-2-0-1-1-3-0-1-1 then you better believe it! La la la oo, la la la oo (clap, clap, clap, clap)

The really frightening thing is that some fans (thankfully very much in the minority) were in favour of handing over another budget to TW to see how he got on this time. That is despite the complete pig's ear he made of the whole thing last time when we were left with a small, lop-sided, ineffective squad that lost us loads of fans as we spent most of our time desperately trying to claw our way clear of the relegation zone and were immediately dumped out of the cups.

On a smaller budget AA has put together a strong squad with bottle and spirit that has given us a great cup run and set us up to fight for a play-off place, playing entertaining football.

Re next season, there will be two extra games - meaning season ticket prices and gate receipts will increase.
Mr Singh said this " I'm not expecting to get back any of the money I've already put in, I'm prepared to write it off for the future of the club. I'm not hanging in to make any kind of financial gain in the short or long term - if someone was prepared to come in and take the club off my hands, I'd be more than willing to discuss it"
