I think that getting to this stage is a reflection on how much the clubs profile has been lifted,
I believe that we as a club must pool all our resources and endeavour to take it to the next level
Sponsors are at an all time high the feel good factor is back .a win tomorrow would be fantastic.
A previous manager told us that none of this could be achieved without outside financial assistance. He said that we would struggle to stay in this league, and all our best players would leave and not be replaced.

Marin Gray.............

If we can keep our present setup namely Alan Armstrong, and the commercial side Craig Morley who had upto now done a fantastic job bringing in sponsors and sorting sourcing coats for stewards and hospitality upgrades,
Then i believe wee will be successful. Time will tell i think just how good this lot are.onwards and upwards. with darlo fc.
Sorry but reality check needed. Improvement has been made but we are miles off a sustainable model for the National League. I agree we must move up if we can but don’t be deluded it would be a massive struggle if we got promoted. We would be more of a Chorley than a Stockport. That is the reality especially at Blackwell Meadows.

Don't get me wrong O.G. - all I'm saying is that A.A. has shown we can build a good team with our present set up. The National League is a different prospect.

What I am saying is that the setup at this moment is fantastic, the team is playing for a manager that they trust and vice versa, the commercial side is also doing a great job with confidence building around Darlington FC ,which was all but lost not so long ago,
I believe that is down to A)having a very good manager with connection,s.
B) the work done commercially to get businesses involved again able to finally find trust DFC not to shaft them again,
C) The trust between the team manager ,CEO, and commercial manager dept,
Which has brought about how we are now,
I just think they are all parts coming together making a whole lot of difference, so I think just keep doing what they are and let's just see how far we can go.

How do you know Commercial is doing so well?

Have the club released some revenue/P&L stats on Commercial this season v's last already.

Not saying it isn't or that it is but I do prefer to judge on the numbers rather than just what I see. Plenty of times this season we haven't had a match sponsor, I don't see that as the biggest issue but does show unless you have the figures it's best not to judge.

It's what is visible at the games hordings space almost fulland the feel good factor that is around the club at the moment. Thats all ,other than that no information. Just gut feeling for the clubs wellbeing.

Forced their keeper into making a couple of decent saves but it the performance never warranted a victory. I thought they looked jaded which is understandable and their full time status clearly showed.

We battled hard and played reasonably well, but the better side won. They were just a level above us, although we weren’t helped by a referee seemingly oblivious to some of harrogates more physical tendencies.

Glad we have a free midweek as there looked to be some heavy legs by the end of the match.

Just fell short today but no disgrace against a strong team. The reality is we would find it very tough in the league above because it is more physical and strength is at a premium.

Harrogate were several notches above us & Solihull. The lads looked tired & not even our new signing could lift us. Thommo had a few half chances but never put his laces through the ball. No disgrace, but lots of progress on last season, maybe fringes of the play-offs.

Would be strange if it was financial considering we have just brought Martin in on loan? Maybe a disagreement over direction of club? Shouldn't speculate so that's as far as I will go until something is confirmed.

You might want to reassess B&C given the latest to be confirmed news.

All I know is talking to Craig he seemed very much in favor of us building our own ground at the SV.

The council will never ever let us build a 5000 seater stadium next to a 25009 stadium, people who believe that are in cloud cuckoo land. Until we own our ground we are always going to be a tenant, the SV will hopefully make us earn more commercial revenue than BM, however without Craig Morley I can’t see that working

Surely other people can do the same job as Craig - we wouldn’t be looking to replace Gabbiadini here.

Yes agreed. I can't understand the team selection though. Hatfield could have done with a rest and why isn't Bascombe getting a game - I think he needs to go out on loan, quite clearly he is going to struggle to make the bench next week with the depth we have now.
Also though Thommo was poor today - I think this league is his level as the defenders are much better in the league above.

Thommo hasn't been playing well for a while now, he could do with a rest & his efforts to become the record goalscorer, is like a millstone around his neck. You could tell Harrogate are a very professional full time team.

Late night thoughts on this one...

I thought we did ourselves proud really. We really did push them all the way, and although there were clearly some tired legs at the end, we have nothing to be ashamed of there. 0-2 felt a little cruel, I think 0-1 would've been a better reflection on the game, which we kept tight.

Some individuals to note:

Donowa was outstanding. I really think we should nail him and Holness down for next year, but Donowa, in particular, is probably capable of playing at a higher level and could turn us a profit. I thought Omar was very good as well. Hatfield more than held his own too.

At the back, we were shakier than usual. I think it's one of our weaknesses anyway, but against a good team from the league above, we were exposed a few times. That said, we were pushing them as well.

Thommo - needs to ride the bench for a while. He was absolutely error strewn, and that one stinging shot aside, he had a bad, bad game. Rivers was much brighter and should have replaced him, not Campbell.

The referee - absolutely dreadful. I don't think he really had an effect on the result, but he was absolutely hopeless and got so many decisions wrong. Mostly minor ones, but dear me. The linesmen didn't help matters either, there were a few decisions they were well placed to intervene and didn't.

Overall, i'd really like to have seen a rested team take them on. On another day, I think we could've got something, and that is testament to the good things going on with this team right now. They're a league above for a reason, and we gave them a good go. The happiest i've come away from a defeat in a while I think. A healthy crowd too.

I agree, came away happy knowing our team put in a fighting performance. Losing Liddle in first half a disappointment as I thought he had been outstanding lately.

Team looked tired even from the start, (understandably so), even Hatfield looked slower than normal.

Both goals coming from mistakes, but we had our chances, and in a period in the second half thought we run them ragged. Donowa and Holness are improving with each game. Thommo does look like he needs a break, although that one shot was a cracker, but he had several chances.

Overall lads put in a shift and rest of the season looks set to be a good one.

For their first goal a free kick should have been given to Darlington it wasn't and they scored. Their second was a really good one .i think 1-0 would have been right .our lads had 72 hours between their last game and this one where as harrogate had 6days rest and they are now full time. Can't fault the lads as it was a free hit as someone has said.

What's happened to the big 'DARLO' flag? I can't remember seeing it since the Spennymoor Town match?
