Contracts

Post by Darlo_CR » Tue Jan 21, 2020 10:52 pm

We seriously need to make sure this team and the management have contracts that are beyond the end of this season as it won't be long before other clubs come sniffing!

Every single one of them are fighting for this club and it's a breath of fresh air!

We do need to be careful, as we don't know which league we will be in. Certainly the management team do need & deserve to be offered improved contracts.

Most will be contracted to the end of the season with a one year option in the clubs favour - that’s normally how Alun likes to operate and seems very sensible.

Just like the 5 year contract prevented Gray leaving us.

Absolutely they seem pretty worthless. Supporting AA and matching his ambitions is the most effective way of keeping him.

Yes I fear that if AA doesn't get the support to match his ambitions for the club, he will with reluctance move on. In the unlikely event of us getting promotion, I'd expect him to be asking DJ for us to go full-time next season.

That doesn't quite tie in with what he said when he arrived... that he was in it for the long haul and it was a long-term project. Only Pete could be forecasting the end of the AA era after it has only just really begun!

Spoke to somebody last Saturday, who talks to AA & more or less said what I said in my post. I really hope this doesn't happen & we can match his ambitions.

If we can't we can't.

We tried matching Gray's ambitions and been paying the price for 2 years.

Not everyone is as cautious with their contracts. Kings Lynn have just signed striker Dayle Southwell and given him a two-and-a-half-year contract. He had apparently been on more than £1,000 a week at Halifax.

Another club with an owner pumping the money in. This is why we must aim for promotion as soon as possible. There is little point saying "next year will be our year" as another non-league village team may come up and bankroll their way through.

Other clubs pumping money in is not a reason to aim for promotion - because all we end up doing is joining a league full of those pumped up village teams.

We are better growing organically. Develop our fan base, develop our community engagement, develop our ground so that in a sustainable way we can actually compete.

There is no rush. There is no time limit. We do not ever need to get promoted. We are never going to win the quadruple there will always be a ceiling for us.

What is the purpose of a football club and what is a measure of success - surely this extends beyond achievements on field. Otherwise all but one club in england fail every year, and what is the point anyway because it all starts again a few months later.

Social /Community benefit should be seen as more important - it certainly lasts longer.

There is a huge difference between needing to get promoted and trying to, we always need to try to get promoted, the tume we dont try we may as well not bother

Yep Pete's always talking to someone, anyone, even that guy walking past the northern echo arena with his dog time and again.
