It might be August, but that could well be a starting point to finishing this season.

Yep but read somewhere that UEFA have said they expect domestic leagues to finish by 30th June because of the tie in with contracts.

That’s a benefit of our smaller operation. I imagine some will have far more than 60 in the lower leagues.

Re: Coronavirus and DFC
That's really concerning for football, but it does go to show that if we can survive this catastrophe, we could be in a very different environment & structure of football than we are now. I hope that the 65% quoted is a very pessimistic figure & the reality will be far fewer clubs will go out of business.
Re: Coronavirus and DFC
Sorry for the people at Barnet who face an uncertain future but I cannot help wondering how a small club like them could afford so many non football staff. They are only one league above us. Things will never be the same again for many teams and I am convinced that teams without a sugar daddy will have to adopt a model similar to our own to survive. Just hope we can come through this and with our dedicated team of volunteers and fans I think we can.
Re: Coronavirus and DFC
60 staff is an easy figure to reach, especially for a club that has been in football league very recently.Old Git wrote: ↑Wed Mar 18, 2020 9:30 amSorry for the people at Barnet who face an uncertain future but I cannot help wondering how a small club like them could afford so many non football staff. It includes all staff, full/ part time other than players, so includes manager, coaching staff, groundsmen, catering staff, turnstile operators, those running the bar and corporate facilities, those in ticket office, club shop, running the operations on the 3g pitches outside the ground, possibly also those running the Trust or community outreach, the media/ comms staff etc, match day stewards, stadium manager etc.
There are 15 staff employed at the academy which until the end of this season has EFL funding ( ie 2 years from relegation)
Its not hard to believe that 60 people are required to run a club when you include non full time staff needed to put on a match on the day
Its clearly not sustainable though as Barnet are losing £100k per month. Imagine that, the Boost the Budget Money being needed to be raised every month not once a year. Barnet's crowds have dwindled and they are averaging less than Darlington are.

Re: Coronavirus and DFC
Football clubs are businesses and as such will be able to get hold of these emergency bridging loans that the government are now sorting out.
If this plan works then a 2 or 3 month layoff may not be terminal. Also there is a train of thought that in these circumstances administration (even temporary) will not incur any points deduction.
It will be hard but with thought hopefully not as bad as some are predicting.

Re: Coronavirus and DFC
ive been to Barnet a few times and they have a decent set up there - quite a decent all weather facility, two cafes and a gym all built into the club structure and paid by the chairman so the closure will hit them hard.spen666 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 18, 2020 9:42 am60 staff is an easy figure to reach, especially for a club that has been in football league very recently.Old Git wrote: ↑Wed Mar 18, 2020 9:30 amSorry for the people at Barnet who face an uncertain future but I cannot help wondering how a small club like them could afford so many non football staff. FC United have done an update where their working assumption is the remaining games of the season won't be played.
Re: Coronavirus and DFC
At least we won’t feel aggrieved that we have been robbed of a likely promotion due to the curtailment of the season. We are slap bang in the middle of the table and if it is null and voided it makes no difference to where we would start again next season.
On that basis when a resumption happens at least we can plan for a campaign in NLN and directors and AA will hopefully be able to plan accordingly. Also we are fortunate to have a decent group of players and if we can hang on to them we will be in good shape when the resumption does come.

3 good signings plus Holmes,Atkinson and possibly Trotman back and I reckon we will have a very good side capable of a promotion challenge.Old Git wrote:At least we won’t feel aggrieved that we have been robbed of a likely promotion due to the curtailment of the season. Re: Coronavirus and DFC
Hartlepool will be fine. Their Chairman is very experienced at laying people off/not paying bills and that sort of thing.
For clarification I have nothing against Hartlepool, their players or supporters.

Not convinced the NL have these sort of reserves available.

Re: Coronavirus and DFC
Yeovil's chairman, having just announced the club has asked players and staff to take a 50% pay cut with immediate effect:
Reckon any of that £4bn will find its way to the likes of DFC? No, me neither. The sad thing is the amount of money we’re talking about to save non-league clubs is a small amount of money compared with the £50m the EFL announced last week or the £4bn TV contract paid to the Premier League. It is such a small amount of money that would be needed to keep everyone alive and moving forward.

That was sent when Non League Paper leaked it. The Northern Premier League statement has come out since as they were still in the meeting.
