Promotion probability,s

Post by onewayup » Thu Apr 30, 2020 8:51 am

National league saying might still be playoffs for remaining promotion spots ,
Or expunged season, or points per game to decide on who gets the slots, is that fair,
Seems that the powers that be can't make a decision by themselves,

Can the powers that be get it right?

They make a decision everyone moans of lack of engagement (FA) - they pull together proposals to be voted on and moans of lack of decisiveness (NL).

They always said they would pull together proposals of how to determine the outcome of the season and members would vote upon those proposals.

These proposals it would seem are taking shape.

Agree totally.

no matter what outcome is, some people will complain.

Too many people fail to realise that we are in an unprecedented situation and there is no simple solution to apply.

Whatever decisions are made will have both financial and sporting ramifications for clubs and the pyramid. Lots of people ( on social media rather than here) come out with their preferred solution but seemingly do not take into account the implications of that decision on finances , the pyramid, the individual players, the contracts clubs have for use of venues etc.

There are no easy solutions or outcomes and definitely none that will make everyone happy.

No there are no easy solutions agreed but dragging it out isn't doing the league or clubs any favours ,
But as you say it's unprecedented, and everyone won't be happy no matter how or what is finally sorted.
All we as fans of Darlington FC can do is back the club as much as possible with donating to the BTB appeal, and wherever possible donating to the club through other channels. It's upto us as to how Darlington FC get through this unprecedented situation. Hopefully intact and ready to go 20,/21 .

Good post sums up our situation well. We will take a hit but hopefully still be in shape to be competitive when the resumption comes.

Which may be more than can be said for a few clubs above our level, at our level & below our level.

Our club is a shared responsibility we the fans own it and support it with varying degrees of financial ability applying to each individual supporter, and everyone has to be thankful we are able to do so thereby keeping our club solvent. I for one thank everyone involved in our club
From the volunteers to mr David Johnson everyone doing their bit with energy and enthusiasm for the good of Darlington Fc . Proud to be a Darlington FC supporter.

Just read on the BBC that the prem may go to 23 clubs next season to take 3 up but no relegation then drop back over a number of seasons.
Should that happen I can see it bumping down the leagues.
Including a replacement for Bury that would mean 4 up from the national league.

Could we eventually see a top 5 leagues of 20 teams?
