Northern Echo...get it wrong again
Again dreadful & lazy journalism from the Echo.
Georgia Banks stating the monies raised for the Boost the Budget was to keep the club afloat because of the Coronavirus.
No mention that is was planned long before the Pandemic or that in fact it was to boost the budget of a fan owned club.
No wonder the Echo is on it's arse.
Please do not defend her saying she is a Junior Staff reporter when the facts could have been learned by one phone call...
They are a joke

No doubt the Sports Editor should have checked the article before going to press, now who is the Sports Editor?

If those two are the reporters on Darlo now, God help us.

Loughlin did an article this week about Darlo resigning 5 players. So he still has his finger in the Sports Pie.JasonDeVos wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2020 7:04 pmI think you will find he is the Teesside Editor now......Darlo_Pete wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2020 7:01 pmNo doubt the Sports Editor should have checked the article before going to press, now who is the Sports Editor?

Re: Northern Echo...get it wrong again
Difficult times for the press as well as the rest of us but their reporting on DFC has been really poor of late. They don’t seem to be able to get even the basics right. Bring back Craig Stoddart.

Oh yes we resigned ‘will hadfield’ if I recall.

Why don't you send her a polite email, pointing out her error and then there will no reason for her to make the error next time?Footifanreturns wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2020 4:47 pmAgain dreadful & lazy journalism from the Echo.

Something like this, I’d imagine:darlo2001uk wrote:Why don't you send her a polite email, pointing out her error and then there will no reason for her to make the error next time?Footifanreturns wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2020 4:47 pmAgain dreadful & lazy journalism from the Echo.

Hello darlo2001uk,
Please properly read your sentences before posting. You’ve missed out the word “be” from your above post.
The sentence should read: “.....there will BE no reason for her to make the error....”
Yours sincerely,
Darlogramps
Would something like that suffice?
I’d also like to point out Spen_666 has failed to use full-stops in his initial reply to footifan.
Here ends Darlogramps’ Pedantry Corner.

Re: Northern Echo...get it wrong again
Actually darlo2001uk
I did.
I also tried to on Twitter but for some reason her profile is not open to contact.
It was another very poor cut & paste " report " obviously taken from the DFC website with her " Journalistic " slant on it.
One phone call to those involved would have given her the true story... Not the totally misleading crap she has put to print...

Re: Northern Echo...get it wrong again
The entire sports desk team were furloughed. Ironically Loughlin was on his way out until the Teesside editor position became available.
Now he's treading on the toes of his former sports desk colleagues by doing their work while they are twiddling their thumbs.

‘Doing their work’ - undoing all their work would be a better way of putting it.loan_star wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2020 9:30 amThe entire sports desk team were furloughed. Ironically Loughlin was on his way out until the Teesside editor position became available.

I mean, in fairness to Loughlin, he can’t win here. If he does ensure reports are written, he’s accused of treading on colleagues’ toes. If he doesn’t, he’s accused of being biased.loan_star wrote:The entire sports desk team were furloughed. Ironically Loughlin was on his way out until the Teesside editor position became available.

We’d rather have the info on new signings etc reported so I think, respectfully, you’re being a tad unfair here. If they’re on furlough, the likes of Stoddart aren’t able to do anything.
I do genuinely think the Echo are trying their best in difficult circumstances. But they do need to drop this bizarre and inaccurate narrative that the club is desperately scrambling around for every penny.

Re: Northern Echo...get it wrong again
I mean, the echo is a Darlington paper. Darlo stories always appear on the site's most read list, unlike pools which never do unless it's for something bad. Gateshead and spenny never do because nobody on earth cares about them to any great extent.
Re: Northern Echo...get it wrong again
Never heard anything about fencegate, and darlington being absolved of any blame although that was always going to be the case as it was a total balls up by spenny- more. I really hope that

That would be strange. If unsafe fences are dreamed not to warrant a ticking off.super_les_mcjannet wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2020 6:43 pmNothing happening to Spenny either I believe. Generally the whole thing is brushed under the carpet.

Remember it was only a bit of plastic tape to hold back the Hordes Of Darlo.
