Darlo Uncovered

It's stating the bleedin obvious but we last saw a game on March 14th, nearly 3 months ago and normally after about this amount of non football time we are looking at friendlies and planning for the new season - but not now. Now we still have no idea as to when we will kick off, or even who if anyone will be promoted or relegated.

I'm missing football but seem to be thinking less about it as time moves on, and although the Premier league kicking off again will help, I'm not a big fan, so as long as Darlo remain quiet football will not really be on my agenda.

How are we all coping ???

I’m the same I’m not bothered about watching the premier league either. I’ll keep an eye on results but I can’t see myself sitting through many if any matches.

I have got into the Belarus Premier League though or the Beep as they call it! Borisov play some good football and FK Slutsk have found themselves with a worldwide supporters Facebook group with 7000 members! People got behind them purely because of their name and the fans on there made a song called ‘We love our slutsk’ which is now played before every match
The fans have even donated money and made merchandise which has really helped the club as I’m led to believe they have been struggling financially.

It’s also been strange to watch during the pandemic as there are fans in the stadium (Though not as many as usual) and the players still shaking hands etc This has been down to the President of Belarus having a shall we say..slightly different view on how to deal with Covid-19.

If Ive somehow sold it to anyone all the matches are shown live on YouTube free of charge!

No point in watching football on tv without crowds as its like watching a game in the park

Interesting how Sky Sport are putting crowd sounds on the German football. I thought it was ok to start with, but the soundtrack is pretty repetitive & it started to annoy me after a short while.

Yes I am looking forward to seeing some live football on TV but I am thinking it will be weird without a crowd. Still has to be better than nothing but things will only feel ok when we are all back at Blackwell Meadows.

Yes sorry it was on BT Sport. Yes it may well be stadium specific, but it is only a short clip which they keep repeating.

We should have been looking forward the Euro's kicking off on Friday but to be honest, right now football is irrelevant and personally and I won't be watching the Premier League or the Championship when they eventually come back, I've said before as far as I'm concerned if it isn't safe for fans to enter a stadium then it isn't safe for anybody. I think the decision to resume was more for financial reasons than maintaining the integrity of the League but I understand those who'll look at it is a welcome distraction from everything that's going on in the world right now.

I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see another ball kicked in 2020 but we should spare a thought for those fans who were lost amongst the 40,000 dead so far who'll never get to see their teams play again, it's a horrendous situation and no doubt something any of us would have expected to see in our lifetime.

Don't worry, I'm sure the leaders of one of the plague capitals of the world will do what's right for people's health and welfare. Mind, if it's OK for thousands of protestors to be cheek by jowl all over the country, then 1,400 footie fans in BM for a 90 minute match in the open air doesn't seem like a huge public health risk to me. We could even take in a trip to Barnie after the game just to make sure our eyes are still in good working order.

If I understand your post correctly it would mean the following:
1 National League would be reduced from 24 to 22 teams.
2 NLN would increase to 23 teams assuming Chorley are placed there.
3 NLS would remain as now with 22 teams.
Wow that would be strange even by the standards of football administrators and would surely need further adjustments in future seasons to even things up.

So no final decision yet then. This saga is assuming War and Peace proportions... and we haven't even got to the inevitable appeals and threats of legal action.

Appeals ,legal actions if a club decides on that action will be money thrown away, as once the decision is made it won't be changed, better spent on building a better squad for the new campaign.

"YORK City will miss out on promotion to the National League under the league’s proposed method of resolving the season, it has been widely reported.

The proposal would see the league placings decided via points-per-game (PPG), meaning that Vanarama National League North leaders York would fall below King’s Lynn Town, who were two points behind City with two games in hand when the season was suspended in March amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The top clubs from the National League North and South would then be promoted.


But the play-offs in the sixth tier will not take place due to government guidelines stating that only sport that qualifies as “elite” will be allowed to return behind-closed-doors."

National League are working towards a September start for season 20/21.

I presume they hope we can get some people in the grounds then, which seems reasonable currently but not sure that would be full capacity - who knows.

The proposal seems to be:

- Barrow and a play-off winner promoted out of the National League.

- Stevenage or Macclesfield relegated into the National League.

- Only Chorley relegated to the National League North.

- King’s Lynn and Wealdstone promoted.

So the National League runs with 24 teams, NLN with 22 and NLS with 21.

And presumably the expansions of National League North and South are deferred by a year, meaning only two go down next season.

All to get voted on on Monday, and if it’s rejected, they’ll look at alternative options like null and void.

From a selfish point of view, I’d much rather have York than King’s Lynn in our division. No ballache trip to Norfolk and a bigger crowd at home against York (so long as people are allowed in the ground by then).

Yep agreed I'm happy to see the back to Kings Lynn & we'll be able to resume hostilities with York next season. Haven't been to Chorley since our Conference trip over 20 years ago, so looking forward to going there.

Barrow deserve to go up, but then again I always had a soft spot for them after the support they gave us during "our troubles".
Great to be going down to York next season, presumably to their new ground and also another trip to Blyth & Spenny.
Pretty tough on South Shields to miss out on promotion when their pitch performances merited it, but there again all of this is still subject to yet another vote so not exactly time to be booking dates in your diary just yet
