Seems to be an even further fall from grace these days if there is a liquidation event...Bury have been placed in North West Counties division 1 next season - that is equivalent of Northern League Division 2.

Even longer way back for them than we had.

The old club hasn't liquidated/or been relegated though has it just stuck in league dithering limbo, so it's just a new club currently as per say Wimbledon or FC Utd.

I will probably see them as the same as the old club if the fans follow etc. but technically they are just a newly formed club.

Yes was just about to say. Bury AFC have been placed at step 6, but there's suggestions on Twitter than Bury FC (the original club) have applied to be placed in non league too. Bit of a mess either way. And tough for Bury fans, who may end up splitting their fanbase.

Bury FC, the original club, could be placed in the National League.

That’s if you believe their delusional, narcissistic, egotistical clown of an owner, who’s managed to blame everyone apart from himself for the club’s demise.

Fair distinction.

It is quite messy depending on what happens to the original club - if they do end up in the National League and the chairman remains at the helm it will almost certainly split the fan base.

I think a similar thing happened at Northwich Victoria following their move from the iconic drill field ground into a new purpose built stadium funded by a dodgy owner remind you of anybody ?

At least Bury AFC will be locking horns with Liverpool and Blackpool! Just need a manager and some players now.

Yep the Northwich Vics support is pretty much split between them and 1874 Northwich now as a result.

Statement from the North West Counties is causing a stir amongst Bury AFC...

https://www.nwcfl.com/news-articles.php ... Xc.twitter

All seems fair from the league to be fair but imagine how we would have reacted if there was a statement by Amos that the Northern League didn't support our placement in their division and just had to because the FA said so.

Good to see that the Isle Of Man are joining the football pyramid, even though they haven't been made to feel very welcome.

The league are being quite principled as I understand it they are still at loggerheads with the FA over last season.

True that way that prevents the possibility of them identifying as a Man one Saturday and as a Woman the following Saturday.

Dover in trouble released all players and said unless a solution is found the club is insolvent.

Looks to me like the chairman wants to get shot of the current squad because they cost too much in the current circumstances so they can start again with a more sustainable model. He's done a good job in getting the fans to point the finger at the players.

Wigan-esque piss taking from Dover’s owners.

Essentially, take a pay cut all of you or I’ll fold the club and screw you, despite willingly signing you all up a couple of weeks a go.

There will be a few clubs, run by scum of the earth, who will hide behind Covid to operate unethically.

I can't see anything which says they recently signed the players up? Dover had 15 on their retained list (so contracted for this season) which they confirmed a couple of weeks ago they must have lost one already so are down to the 14 mentioned. Not sure I see any mention of players signing new contracts but might just be missing it.

I mean it is finger pointing at the players as I am not really sure what difference 20% would have made in the scheme of things but I think equally it is indicative of the plight full time clubs will find themselves in.

I mean they say that season tickets are protected and refunds will be made if they cease trading so continue to buy in confidence but would you buy one now?

I suppose with Dover athletic being situated where it is the finances were always going to be at a cliff edge sooner or later.

The FA have turned down Bury fc application to rejoin the league, they have told them to reapply to join the NLS next season

Plans afoot for a salary cap in the National League as well.

900k limit in the National League, 600k at our level is what’s been proposed.

a good idea. wonder how it will be policed though? will some clubs 'get round' this by adding extras to the overall benefits package for players (free houses, cars etc?)
