Playoffs
Re: Playoffs
If Harrogate do go up, I don't think they will have any problems holding their own in League 2. In the year to the end of June 2019 they had a wage bill of more than £1.1m and it will be more than that now. When they won promotion from our league in 2018 they had an annual wage bill of £809,510.

Re: Playoffs
At present we can only dream of that sort of figure.
Re: Playoffs
They've also substantially invested in their ground. It's looking really good. Bit jealous of the style of new stands that they have, it'd be perfect for usLoidLucan wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 1:11 pm

Re: Playoffs
Shame the Alty fans won't get to the final & now they can't even go round their mates to watch it!
Re: Playoffs
It's not just alty fans though I feel sorry for the fans that maybe can't watch their teams at Wembley after maybe dreaming a lifetime to get there i.e Wycombe Wanderers supporters. And not being able to say farewell to your ground must cut like a knife Boston United/York city but those poor Brentford fans who are hit with the double whammy of missing the clubs greatest night in their history imagine how we would have felt deprived of the chance to say farewell to feethams.

Very true. Re: Playoffs
Altrincham to win the final, keep Boston in NLN and Brackley to move to NLS, although I think it is likely to be Gloucester who move leagues.
Re: Playoffs
It is going to be a cracking game, Boston/altrincham.
Looking forward to listening in .

Re: Playoffs
BBC commentators have said that they are surprised at just how busy the “press” area is and also at just how many “stewards” are present at the play off final.

Re: Playoffs
Harrogate Town into League 2, quite an achievement albeit financially aided but credit to them.
"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"

Think you need to look up the definition of contrarian.Old Git wrote:Oh that is rich coming from GrampsDarlogramps wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2020 5:55 pmTry telling that to Wigan, Macclesfield or Bury fans.HarrytheQuaker wrote:All teams are financially aidedreal_darlo_85 wrote:Harrogate Town into League 2, quite an achievement albeit financially aided but credit to them.

I’m more obstinate, than contrary.

Obstinate:
"Stubbornly refusing to change one's opinion or chosen course of action, despite attempts to persuade one to do so."
Surely not

Re: Playoffs
Interesting to see on Look North them showing a few fans in a pub watching the game, if we had been in there position all the pubs in town would have been rammed. Sadly Harrogate is not a football town & I think they'll struggle to get the support that there team deserves.
Re: Playoffs
Surely they are all so posh they all subscribed to TV channel & watched from home with a HT delivery of afternoon tea from Betty's Tea rooms.
Meanwhile back in Nottingham, massive queue on Trent Bridge so County fans can jump in - founder members of the Football League. No team is entitled to a spot in the league based on history.
