impact on ground capacity
Re: impact on ground capacity
Was in a Daily Fail article lo. Knowing them they could have got their facts wrong.
If Darlington itself isn't involved in the local lockdown (thanks to Peter Gibson for clarifying that actually), what about our supporters who live in the lockdown areas? Will they be allowed to travel to Darlo to spectate? This is where it gets a bit messy and confusing.

Re: impact on ground capacity
It doesn't seem to be being consistently reported anywhere. South Shields have said they don't know what it means for their game on Saturday.
I've just been on .gov.uk
"Residents are also advised to adhere to the following guidance to further reduce rates of infection:
...
avoid attending amateur and semi-professional sporting events as spectators"
So attendance isn't banned but it is advised for individuals to adhere to guidance to avoid.
Well that is nice and clear for clubs on whether or not they are allowed to have spectators.

Yes, that's what they reported lo. The 'Amateur and semi-professional sporting event' is confusing.

Hopefully clubs will make their grounds covid secure which should ensure that fans can attend.
On a side note the government have just announced that the national theatre will open in October with a capacity of 500 reduced from 1500. It doesn't figure does it 1000 in huge football arenas

Completely agree with you but we have got to fall in line at this moment in time to hopefully see some football. No way do I want to be sat at home watching us on a tv screen.

Agreed, in part the only time we'll ever be truly "covid secure" is when the virus is out of circulation, for as long as it is here all we can do is do our best to halt its spread.
love it! wrote:Considering we are Darlington 1883 I'm happy that we are named correctly

First match is away at Fylde - with Lancashire set to go into partial lockdown.
Re: impact on ground capacity
I'm still wondering if the league season will actually start at beginning of October. There is still no clear picture re crowds being allowed back. Nor have any clubs held test events at grounds where there will be standing allowed
Edit, Since I posted the above, Oliver Bayliss has tweeted
https://twitter.com/Ollie_Bayliss/statu ... 5208619010BREAKING:
The National League has received approval for 4 pilot games with a capacity of 1,000 spectators.
The games will take place next week
Friendlies at Dagenham, Yeovil, Dartford and Notts County being the four games
