Darlington V Telford
Any predictions on what our lineup for Saturday will be?
It was great to see Hatfield and Atkinson on the pitch Tuesday night.

Re: Darlington V Telford
For me id look to rest a couple of players. Liddle has played every game, could maybe just do with a weekend off, want him fighting fit and if we rest him once in every few games to do so, so be it. Imagine Hunt will be out for a couple of weeks. Hatfield to come back in and give us his leadership and dynamism. Reid has played most games so give him a rest for Holness. Not sure how bad Charman's knock was but if he's still feeling it I'd let him rest, 2 games a week for the foreseeable so rather give him a couple of days to get fit:
-------------------------- Saltmer ---------------------
McMahon --- Laing --- Storey --- Watson
---------------- Hatfield --- Wheatley ------------
Rivers -------------- Holness ---------- Campbell
------------------------ Maguire ----------------------
Subs: Minter, Atkinson, Sousa, Hudson, Levi
Others might choose to rest Saltmer but for me if he hasn't been responsible for any of the goals we've conceded its harsh to drop him at the moment while he's still finding his feet as a No.1.

I,d suggest 3 in midd field, that is where I thought we were short on Tuesday, maybe I saw it differently but we were unable to get hold of the game and it was a midd field problem I thought, people see the same game and have another take on it, that's my take,

Agree, I would put Sousa in an attacking midfield role so he can have more of the ball rather than wide left, with Hatfield and Wheatley. A front 3 of Rivers, Cams and Charman or Maguire.onewayup wrote:I,d suggest 3 in midd field, that is where I thought we were short on Tuesday, maybe I saw it differently but we were unable to get hold of the game and it was a midd field problem I thought, people see the same game and have another take on it, that's my take,

Having Sousa in there is not a “3 man midfield”. He isn’t a central midfielder for a start.QUAKERMAN2 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 4:04 pmAgree, I would put Sousa in an attacking midfield role so he can have more of the ball rather than wide left, with Hatfield and Wheatley. If you’re going to put him in an attacking midfield role then that’s exactly the same system we played on Tuesday.

What I am saying is I would prefer him to play more central rather than wide left.Darlofan97 wrote:Having Sousa in there is not a “3 man midfield”. Telford have today strenthened their side after the boss said they were down to 14 or 15 fit first-teamers....

Fylde game postponed today because Boston United player has tested positive for covid. I think we are outside the window where it has implications.

Re: Darlington V Telford
Saltmer for Minter, the rest looks fine. From the Northern Echo:
"Early on Darlington goalkeeper Johnny Saltmer made two stunning saves, pushing away Ellis Iandolo’s header after a Swindon free-kick on the left had been whipped in.
And when Joel Grant was sent racing in on goal after a pass from the centre-circle, with Darlington’s defence caught flat-footed, Saltmer narrowed the angle and saved well."

I think Minter will get his first start today.
Minter
McMahon
Storey
Laing
Liddle
Atkinson
Hatfield
Holness
Rivers
Campbell
Sousa
Subs: Saltmer, Hedley, Reid, Hudson, Maguire
That line-up is presuming Charman is injured and Wheatley needs a rest.

Re: Darlington V Telford
Think I'd take a scruffy 1-0 win today. Would like to see the loan keeper Minter given a go, but that is not to say Saltmer has done anything wrong. We could do with more points on the board just so we don't lose touch with the playoff pack and need to start a bit of momentum in the league.
"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"
Re: Darlington V Telford
Right now let's just take one step at a time and concentrate on moving away from the bottom of the table before we we aim for a playoff place?real_darlo_85 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 2:14 pmThink I'd take a scruffy 1-0 win today. We are really going to have to play through the lines with that forward line. Would’ve had Amantchi on the bench as something different. Also would’ve started Omar and given Reid a rest. Will see...Darlogramps wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 2:31 pmLaing starts, Hatfield back and no Charman.

The only thing I can think of is Amantchi is not doing it enough in training AA alluded to this the other week, which is a shame.darlobaz791 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 2:37 pmWe are really going to have to play through the lines with that forward line. Re: Darlington V Telford
Concerned about that midfield again. Omar > Reid, for me.
Re: Darlington V Telford
One of the few times I’m pleased I’m watching it on tv rather than being there! Telford playing in pink is no good with my eyesight!
Re: Darlington V Telford
This is incrrdibly frustrating.
I also don't get why holness isn't preferred to reid.

Too much favouritism to the Blyth lads imo.

Bang on.
Hatfield, Wheatley and Holness is our best midfield. Maybe Wheatley is injured or unavailable today, I don't know.
Reid would not be in my starting line-up. Not today, not next week, not next month.

Totally agree , Reid is not my cup of tea in the least, Omar a far better option.Awful 2nd half this.darlo2001uk wrote:Bang on.

Oh man so disappointed , just so disjointed, gutted
Re: Darlington V Telford
That second half was absolutely piss poor. And it shouldn't have mattered, but oh no, we can't be doing something daft like scoring when we're on top can we?

Second match in a row where the opposition are prepared to work harder without the ball than we are.

Re: Darlington V Telford
Yes. Why Reid is playing every game I don’t know? I know Maguire is playing his way in, but taking Campbell off for him was a mistake. Really got to turn the form around in the league. 3 home games. 3 defeats.QUAKERMAN2 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 4:50 pmTotally agree , Reid is not my cup of tea in the least, Omar a far better option.Awful 2nd half this.darlo2001uk wrote:Bang on.
