Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down

excuse my ignorance, but it's been bugging for a while, at the end of each story there is a thumbs up and thumbs down, what are they?

Sure its a simple explanation but I can't work it out.

Do you like it? Thumbs up.
Don't you like it? Thumbs down.

The plan, eventually is to have tables of the most liked and most disliked pieces of news, as well as seeing who the most positive and most negative users are.

You need to be logged in to the message board to add your like or dislike status, by simply clicking on either thumbs up or thumbs down.

We're just collecting data for now, but it'll all come together once we're tallying up votes. (There's just more important things on the site that we're working on at the moment)
