That is dreadful news.

Hopefully he gets excellent treatment and recovers swiftly and fully.

It's never nice to hear any player has suffered a serious injury no matter who he plays for

Hope this is not a career ending injury for the lad as he was just starting to get it back on track. Fingers crossed he makes a full recovery.

The club will be supporting him 100% I would imagine and keeping the door open for a return.Really hoping the news is positive today and just waiting for an update.

The latest update this morning put out by the club is that Paddy is going to have an operation to relieve pressure on his brain. This is serious stuff, but he will be in good hands, and football fans everywhere will be wishing him a full recovery. If you believe in a God, or even if you don’t, please say a prayer for him.

Some more positive news in the latest bulletin on Paddy. His condition seems to be stabilising, and he is sitting up and talking. Hopefully, he will continue to improve and make a good recovery.

Article gives more background to the events on Saturday and Paddy’s recent experiences. From the far end of the pitch I think a lot of us hadn’t appreciated how all this happened and the anxiety of everyone involved.
Priority is obviously his recovery from this immediate crisis, but longer term there must be doubt that being able to get back to playing is realistic or sensible.

Please to hear he is doing well. At the very least he will need plenty of time out of the game, hopefully the lad can come back to play football at some point.

Great effort yet again from our fantastic fans. Over £5,000 raised in less than 24 hours. Don’t know if it is just me, but I have had difficulty in donating. I know I am a bit useless with modern technology, but I have managed to donate to other Just Giving appeals previously.
Maybe we could arrange a preseason game with Sunderland and donate the proceeds to him.

Ultimately it is his decision regards his future. But if this bleed can happen by heading a ball, as is reported, there can only be one sensible decision he can make.

Great to see BBC Look North made this the first article in tonight's sport report, saying the total raised in 48hrs is over £12k. I see that Sunderland FC has contributed a £1000 to the fund.

Makes a change to get a mention for a positive reason instead of managers fighting or a misogynistic comment being made. They even managed to do it without a reference to George Reynolds 🤣

May have been missed with all the Beck story, but update on Paddy’s condition.

Notice that Paddy Almond made his return on Saturday starting for Whitley Bay. Jamie Holmes has also signed for them.

Hope Paddy doesn't get any more knockbacks & the medics are happy to let him play again. All the best🤞

As I recall this injury (a blow to the head and a bleed) has happened twice to him. I would be amazed if "the medics are happy to let him play again." I would think the obvious risks have been pointed out to him, and he, not the medics is "happy to play" again. I wish him well but I do hope he has fully considered eveything.
