Bobby Charlton
So sad, condolences to family and friends.
A true legend, and great ambassador of the game.
People of a certain age will remember him as a household name, he played the game as it should be played.

Re: Bobby Charlton
I remember him coming over to Darlo, when we were in danger of going bust and he came over to the fundraiser at the old Paton & Baldwin site. A true gentleman and a sad loss to football. RIP Bobby.

Re: Bobby Charlton
A true gentleman indeed, and only one of his generation could display such maturity off the field. If only modern footballers could be like him. In 1966 I watched him lift the world cup; Darlington got promoted to the third division and as a ten year old I assumed things like that happened regularly.Darlopartisan wrote: ↑Sat Oct 21, 2023 4:50 pmYep remember that, like you say a true gentleman of the game

Re: Bobby Charlton
Correct, in any walk of life some people just stand out.
Serious question, does anyone know how many times Bobby got booked, if indeed he did? Can’t remember him ever getting sent off.
