Bobby Charlton

So sad, condolences to family and friends.
A true legend, and great ambassador of the game.
People of a certain age will remember him as a household name, he played the game as it should be played.

I remember him coming over to Darlo, when we were in danger of going bust and he came over to the fundraiser at the old Paton & Baldwin site. A true gentleman and a sad loss to football. RIP Bobby.

A true gentleman indeed, and only one of his generation could display such maturity off the field. If only modern footballers could be like him. In 1966 I watched him lift the world cup; Darlington got promoted to the third division and as a ten year old I assumed things like that happened regularly.

I think that some modern footballers also display maturity

Correct, in any walk of life some people just stand out.
Serious question, does anyone know how many times Bobby got booked, if indeed he did? Can’t remember him ever getting sent off.

Twice he was booked, I only know because it was mentioned on either talksport of 5live.
