Darlington V Blyth

Lads should be fresh for this game.
Blyth are having a good season, hopefully we can get something from the match.
No predictions on team of formation, just hope we don’t get battered.

I’ll have a go, the new players to me indicate that we may be sticking to with 5 at the back.

Robson
Salkeld Lees Lawlor Burton Hedley
Hatfield Platt Ngandu
Hazel Simms

Sukar, Grifiths, Liddle, Rivers, Nelson

Would prefer Hedley at RB and Sukar LB.Not keen on Salkeld as a wing back as he cannot defend and that team I am confident would get the 3 points.

The thought of Sukar at LWB knocks me ill

Sod 5 at the back until we get 2 tried and tested players in that wing back position, as currently we have none, don’t get it at all!

To get 2 forwards in I’d go a diamond kind of formation:

Taylor
Griffiths Lawlor Burton Hedley
Platt
Hatfield. Salkeld
Ngandu
Hazel. Simms

But pretty sure he will stick to 5 and the new keeper so what do I know😂!!

I’ve had the crystal ball out and I predict 6 points from the 2 games this week, both by a 1-0 score line.
Yes nurse I am coming for my medication 😂

Can’t we slip one of our Darlo Lady players on to the pitch tomorrow? They seem able to score goals.
Oh Blackwell Meadows clock - You are a waste of time
If kick off time is three PM - You’ll read five past nine

We need as many fans as possible to lift the team and start a run going picking up points.
So if you're at a loose end try getting down to support the lads this Tuesday, make a noise for the team and help them get a win

Huge game tonight, I'm looking forward to this one, hopefully the lads will be right up for it and can get us a much needed result

I've got a feeling we may see a scoring debut from young Jim (fingers crossed)

We must have similar balls. I think it's possible too - this new manager seems to be setting about things and stirring up some hope. One decent result and our balls will be the talk of Darlington. ;)

Second best but still nil nil. There's nothing sticking up front. Lots of direct balls forward but no threat.

Based on the start to the second half apart from Lawlor's chance we are now third best!

We have virtually nil goal threat so the writing is on the wall. I thought our Keeper looked confident though he didn't have much to do. Clean sheet anyone Tommy?

If Hazel isn't served up with chances then he contributes absolutely nothing. Can't hold the ball up, can't lay it off, looks nowhere near good enough, gives us nothing up front.

Meanwhile Junior Mondal, who AA froze out last season, is banging them in for Whitby

Think that's his level Nick, he had 2 years with us and did very little.

Regards your last sentence you could almost change that to read "gives up". He lost any 50/50 balls tonight and just didn't look bothered.

I thought Kieran Burton played really well, in fact he was my MOM , Lawlor played ok, Hatfield ran his socks off and doing Platt’s job as well .
Still can’t get my head round what’s Salkeld role is, just seems wasted.

Well a clean sheet and a point gained. Unfortunately, that’s the end of the good news. Looked like we set up for a nil nil draw at home, but with that formation I have no idea where a goal or a win is coming from. Yes I understand we have to shore up the defence, and we did look more solid in that department, but that was a shocking game to watch.

Pretty much readying ourselves for the division below. One step back, two steps forward?
"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"

Blyth played three days ago and they were also down to the bare bones - making no substitutions said it all.

Before tonight, they had won two of their last nine in all competitions.

Looking forward to hearing the giggles in the PMI tonight.

Just got home from the match, I thought we looked solid enough, to say we were playing a side that was 7th (I think before KO) I didn’t think there was much between the two teams, yes we still lack creativity, big time! But it is an improvement in terms of the defensive set up.

New player watch;
Burton looked good a deservedly got MOM, Simms looked miles off it and was hooked at HT, ngandu looks average (so far) and was clearly unhappy at being subbed off.

Salkeld is defo wasted at right wing back, I think he is a good player & I’d like to see in the number 10 role or even tried up top as both Hazel and Nelson offer very little.

Spenny will be very tough on Sat and will be looking for a reaction after getting battered tonight. stating the obvious and confidence plays a part but, our lack of creativity is a huge worry.
