Re: GOWLING OUT
Hopefully he's on a month to month contract! This is going to be worse than 2009/10 season otherwisw. We may need to do another BTB to buy him out and get someone else in pretty soon.
Come on Darlo!

This appointment was so obviously wrong from the minute it was announced. You could see instantly it was doomed to failure. DJ has done a lot of good for this club but the major managerial decisions over the last 12 months have been completely wrong. He and the supporters club board need to pull the trigger on Gowling and Rose now. We are 9 points adrift so if we don’t have a major turn around now it will be too late.

Re: GOWLING OUT
This is a no brainer, that today was the final straw. Why bring Hedley on for another full back when we are chasing the game, why Simms instead of Nelson, why Robson over TT, 4 out of his 7 signings have not improved us,he will get rid of several players who can still do a job for us, why have loans for just a month, why was there no fight today. He has made far too many mistakes, has talked his way into this job by the sounds of it and worst of all the results are embarrassing and making us the laughing stock of this division. If he had any pride he should offer his resignation now.MB86DFC wrote:Beat me to it

Next week`s game at Farsley is not just a six pointer it`s a 12 pointer lose that and we are down
Re: GOWLING OUT
My thoughts to a tee! I’m not a fan of sacking managers but it’s plain as day this man is taking us backwards. If he had anything about him he would resign before being sacked.QUAKERMAN2 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2023 4:45 pmThis is a no brainer, that today was the final straw.

Not sure I'd trust this board to make another appointment, and I don't think DJ has much understanding of football to be fair. Do an impressive powerpoint presentation and you could have it yourself.

Re: GOWLING OUT
Don't be ridiculous, give your heads a shake. There is no point ending his contract after such a short period of time, he should be given at lest until the New Year. I'm going down to Farsley next week, to support the team and Josh.
Re: GOWLING OUT
In any other job, you are on probation to see if you are up to the role. If not, the employer has the right to terminate your contract.
Josh seems like a nice guy but is so clearly out of his depth and devoid of ideas, structure and an ability to incentivise the squad.
We are already becoming a joke and a laughing stick this season, so let’s take a little bit more embarrassment, terminate his contract and bring in a proper manager with a bit more pedigree and credibility.

Thank god I’m not the only one who has thrown the baby out of the bath water after just a few weeks. Gowling inherited a mess and it’s going to take time. I would say that some his decisions have not helped matters but anyone who thought things were going to significantly improve in the short term post Armstrong are underestimating how poor a squad Armstrong has built.Darlo_Pete wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2023 5:37 pmDon't be ridiculous, give your heads a shake. I have had concerns over the recruitment process. Re: GOWLING OUT
DJ said he thought about letting Alun go in the summer, clearly that would have been the right decision. If he had doubts over Alun it was clear it was time up for Alun, but he let him spend the BTB money. From then it’s been a complete disaster. I think Gowling will be on a monthly rolling contract as it’s not been released how long his contract is, but I’m sure the players will be aware and are probably thinking it’s just a matter of time. DJ needs to active decisively and we need a back to basics appointment. None of this fancy data crap, we can’t even put a pattern of play together. DJ act now!

He is looking clueless and I’m big enough to admit I was wrong by hoping Jg could be the answer BUT don’t forget AA has left us with this shite, I don’t care what anyone says the squad regardless of loan signings is not good enough

Re: GOWLING OUT
I think the next ten games will have a big bearing on our fate this season (which is looking like it's being sewed up already), Spenny were a bit of a wounded animal, had a couple of bad results including a hammering at Scunthorpe in midweek and were looking for a response, a trip up the road to face a struggling Darlington side going through a lot of upheaval was always going to be the perfect opportunity to get back on the horse.
They're not third for nothing and it was always going to be a tough game, looking forward though our first two games next month are against two teams who are around us away at Farsley and Peterborough Sports, excluding Chester and Chorley, Rushall and Warrington at home also look like games we could get something from and then in December we face Southport, Gloucester and Bishop's Stortford, our destiny is still in our own hands.
But if we fail to get a positive result against either Farsley or Peterborough in the next ten days then I really do fear it's game over before we've even reached christmas. The honeymoon, if there even was one, is well and truly over for Gowling and we need to start getting points on the board ASAP, there are eery echos of those 2003/04, 2009/10 and 2011/12 campaigns even with a change of manager and personnel we seem to be heading backwards, I don't think any of us want to see another 2009/10 style debacle where we change managers multiple times to no avail.
The rot had set in long before Gowling arrived so it's only right he is at least given time to try and turn it around, if we somehow make it to boxing day at Scarborough without having managed a win then his position has to be in question, for now though I don't any point in chopping and changing in quick succession as it will not fix the underlying issues, another new manager with the exception of a few loanees and a few new signings will inherit the same set of problems.

Re: GOWLING OUT
Whatever happens next we need to be giving the team the loudest possible support every game. Our support is one of our strengths at this level and with a lot of young lads coming in I think this is really important . I fear the atmosphere will get increasingly toxic because this has been such a wretched time on the pitch.
As for the manager well I think the fact that I have read the names Futcher and Staunton a lot this week says it all.
At the moment it looks DJ and the board have made a serious mistake. The second bad mistake after keeping Armstrong on at the end of last season when we were in free fall.

How much of his time does DJ spend running Darlington? Since he took up his role as a director of Darlington FC in 2017, he has taken on another 36 directorshipYarblockos wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2023 5:37 pmNot sure I'd trust this board to make another appointment, and I don't think DJ has much understanding of football to be fair. I have approximately 0 faith in this new management team. I am probably biased though, because I didn’t want us to get rid of AA. I think it’s got to be nigh-on desperation to get rid of a manager mid-season at our level. It’s so difficult to rebuild a squad and to change tactics while only seeing players twice a week. For all we were bad, I did not think AA would take us down. Now I am almost resigned to relegation. Any incoming manager should’ve been charged with working with the players we had, maybe supplementing it with one or two loans if the budget allowed. Every change Gowling has made appears to have made us worse.

I’m led to believe DJ wasn’t there today just one Director Jonathan Jowett. There is also 1 current directorship that predates his appointment as a director of Darlington.

It's a lot of current directorships, especially for someone spending in your words " a lot of time running Darlington ". More so when he has taken 34 of these current directorships on since he became a director at Darlington.

Directors have legal duties and responsibilities at every company they are directors of. This applies whether companies are related or not.
IYou can have a go at me, but it is a fact that your CEO is a director of 35 other companies and has taken on 34 of them since ge became the CEO at Darlington.

Maybe when we had Beck but not since. Armstrong was dismissed for a lengthy poor run of form over 20 odd games, and rightly so.
