Farsley
Farsley
The six matches thread showed this forum at it's best with lots of real support for the club but for me it really comes down to this game. We really have to win it - anything less and I think that's it for this campaign. Farsley are beatable and if JG's elusive pattern shows itself it could happen but if not there is no prospect of Quakers playing the rest of the season in championship form which would be the only way out of the doldrums. The challenge then would be to find ways to look ahead and play out the season as positively as possible. As long as the club endures it can look forward.
Re: Farsley
This will be tougher than it looks on paper. Their home form is crap, but of their 6 home games they have played 4 of the teams you’d expect to be in the playoff mix at the end of the season

Re: Farsley
I've got a really good feeling about this game, I travel with optimism, by the way this is not a prediction!!!
Re: Farsley
Seems an awful long time ago that game when Lambert tore them a new one and got a first-half hat-trick as we hammered them 6-0 down there. Bizarrely they could easily have been a couple of goals to the good before we scored. I also seem to remember Rivers being really obviously hacked down by some thug in the box and, as we waited for the inevitable penalty, Rivers staggered back to his feet to be shown a yellow card for diving. Farsley are usually big, aggressive, physical, direct and bang up for it.

Re: Farsley
People talked about the next six matches for a reason, we'll have a realistic view of whether we can stop up or not after the next six games, not after the next game alone. Farsley is not a must win, we could draw and win at Peterborough and it would be a good return.

We are currently bottom with 8 points from 14 games.
Farsley are currently 9 points clear of us. They battle relegation every season.
We have taken 1 point from a possible 9 against 21st, 22nd & 23rd.
Let me say that again. We have taken 1 point from a possible 9 against 21st, 22nd & 23rd.
If we then go on to lose to 19th that would be shameful.
If you can’t beat Farsley, Bishop’s Stortford, Gloucester or Kings Lynn, tell me, where do you expect our wins to come from?
We’re in the s***. Every game is a must win.

Re: Farsley
The panic is understandable, the players and staff need to have a more level headed approach. There’s a lot of football still to be played, we need to focus on being difficult to beat. Confidence builds on doing the basics right, if we do that and it’s a drab 0-0, it’s a step forward from the terrible performance last week.BM1883 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 03, 2023 9:24 pmFarsley is not a must win?…Yarblockos wrote: ↑Fri Nov 03, 2023 8:04 pmPeople talked about the next six matches for a reason, we'll have a realistic view of whether we can stop up or not after the next six games, not after the next game alone. Re: Farsley
It's a crucial four days coming up, season defining? Not quite, but important in shaping our destiny in the coming weeks? Absolutely as we have two difficult games to follow.
We need a win, and we need it soon.

Re: Farsley
Not sure what the state of the pitch is in at Farsley, but steady rain from 11am. There maybe a late inspection as the rain looks to set in from then onwards.
Re: Farsley
I’d argue it could be season defining. Another defeat coupled with a meek performance, the proverbial knives will be sharpened further.quaker4life wrote: ↑Fri Nov 03, 2023 10:08 pmIt's a crucial four days coming up, season defining? How does their pitch holdup to the wet weather, is it prone to water logging?Darlo_Pete wrote: ↑Sat Nov 04, 2023 1:21 amNot sure what the state of the pitch is in at Farsley, but steady rain from 11am. There maybe a late inspection as the rain looks to set in from then onwards.

Re: Farsley
Pitch at Farsley isn’t good at the best of times so I would expect a real slog in the mud today. We will have to be fully committed for a physical battle.Darlopartisan wrote: ↑Sat Nov 04, 2023 8:31 amHow does their pitch holdup to the wet weather, is it prone to water logging?Darlo_Pete wrote: ↑Sat Nov 04, 2023 1:21 amNot sure what the state of the pitch is in at Farsley, but steady rain from 11am. I see Clayton Donaldson is the player manager at Farsley. He is a player who has had an excellent career and still going strong at 39. Getting on a bit, but could still prove a threat in front of goal. Lets hope we can keep him quiet and take all 3 points today.

Re: Farsley
I see Adriano Moke is "close to full fitness" for the eleventy millionth week in a row according to the match preview.
Is he the new Steve Thomas/David Wheater?
I'm worried about Lawlor having a fitness concern, it seems that he is the only contracted central defender that Josh likes.

Re: Farsley
I see they have George Smith playing for them and he does long throws for them. Hope we've practised.

FFS a Darlo goal from open play. Good job I haven't binned my betting slip for the title.

Re: Farsley
Salkeld was the scorer as well.
I remember just 2 matches into the season a couple of people on X calling him the worst player that they have ever seen. I said in response that he will be player of the season.
He will be, mark my words.

Griffiths,Lawlor,BurtonHedley in a back four at last.
Has JG finally seen the error of his ways??

Get in Hatfield makes 2-0 from a free kick.

2-0 Hatfield

Re: Farsley
Playing brilliantly so far, what a difference a back 4 makes. Fingers crossed for the clean sheet!
Re: Farsley
Both of these things could turn out to be true given the season we're havingGhost_Of_1883 wrote:Salkeld was the scorer as well.

We will be playing at the arena again next season - fact.
Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.

Re: Farsley
Looked a completely different team too when went 4 at back for last 10 mins against Spennymoor. Surely the way forward. Surely a win and a clean sheet?.?!!

Re: Farsley
Fantastic stuff - 3 points on the board. The season starts here.
Never argue with an idiot: The best possible outcome is that you win an argument with an idiot.
Re: Farsley
Oh the relief. Well done lads, sounded like we deserved the win, but of course made it more difficult by conceding against 10 men. Really hope this will give us a platform to build on for the rest of the season.
Re: Farsley
Long way to go but some signs of life at last and a formation that the players seem more comfortable with and one that has allowed us to show more attacking intent than for a long, long time. Hope it's the start of steady progress.
