If he signed for 2 years why would
We not pay him? Same as we would get comp if he left for another club Can see there being a breaking clashes if he gets a new job but unless we had something performance related etc
Why would any club pay up the full contract of any manager that has not performed? That gives all of the power to the manager and none to the club. To do that would mean that the manager could underperform for 2 months and then be rewarded with 2 years worth of money as a leaving present. Things like compensation if the manager gets sacked will be agreed upon before a contract is signed, because it has to suit all parties not just one.

DJ has already confirmed that managers don't get their full contracts paid up upon their sacking, it staggers me that some fans still think it's still the case that they do.

It’s not that easy , maybe by the letter of his contract it won’t be every penny but it will be pretty
Close imo or what is to be gained from the manager perspective on signing a long contract ?
Contract also protects the club with compensation if another club wants to take him…not that there was much chance of that with laughing boy !

I feel this thread needs pumping up because, in my view, reality hovers over some of the other threads, but leaves the building with others. Anybody seriously hoping for better things after Chorley needs to look harder at the 'highlights'. I didn't go but just looking at some of the goals we let in was grim; the first one was appalling - their guy was completely free in the penalty area and was able to have a touch and take aim. One or two of the others showed Chorley players showing how it's done but some of the others showed Darlo defenders faffing about in a trance, the own goal was a disgrace and we'd simply stopped competing. To lose like that is just so bad and denotes a team beyond regeneration. My idea of reality here is to accept that we've had it for this season but leave Gowling where he is then pick it up somehow when he goes. He isn't Cyril Knowles or Brian Little so won't be overseeing any miracles. To appoint a worse manager than Tommy Wright took some doing but I agree that the board should be left alone and too much laldy at the Forum would be counter productive. We need to go down with as much faith as we can. :wtf:
