Got to be a part-exchange deal, as the 1st half against Chester proved we can do without Hazel & score goals. He is a luxury that Gowling cannot afford to keep picking unless Hazel can do more for the team, but I think it is a case of "you can't teach an old dog new tricks".

Where has this idea come from that Hazel "needs to play off a big man"? if you look at his goalscoring stats from last season he scored 9 of his 19 league goals after Mark Beck left. And he could have had another one if he hadn't gifted Nelson the penalty at Fylde.
You're wasting your time, you can't talk to these fuckers.

But to me at least, that's an interesting stat regarding the spread of his goals. So you're telling me that just about half of his league goals came in half of the season, AFTER Beck left?

I was under the impression after listening to the "he only scored during half of the season" merchants on Saturday that he'd only scored about twice after Beck left...

I’m looking at it from a slightly different perspective.
JG needed to make changes because Platt was injured, in comes Rivers, and brilliant he was, JG now knows how good Rivers can be.
He also decided to start Nelson to mix it up a bit, and it worked, in this particular match.
I was at the game and it’s true, this was the best we’ve played for some time, the key to it IMO was Rivers, if Hazel had started what’s to say the result would of been the same, obviously we don’t know and never could.
However because Hazel didn’t start the knives are out, caused in the main by Stodards throw away remarks in the Echo, he’s stirring things and in my view he’s got it wrong again!

That is a very interesting stat re: Hazel's goals last season. I'd be interested to see how many of those second half of season goals were scored without Lambert in the team as well.

Since time immemorial Darlo fans have needed a scapegoat. Hazel is now it. He goes, we get a new striker who doesn't get 20 goals either, and suddenly it'll be another stick to beat Gowling with.

I would guarantee that, if Hazel went to Scarborough or Farsley, he would score more goals this season than whoever ends up our top scorer.

Post above is tosh. He scored 20 plus goals last season unless that was a dream. He has a 1 in 2 goal ratio in his career. Pretty good for someone you believe can't do any of the basics of football correctly.
Great, we just need to reassemble last year's team and Hazel will be able to score goals again.
You're not really this dense are you?

Which throwaway remarks are these? That the club has indeed received two bids for Hazel?
Gowling has been actively trying to move him on for a few weeks now.

Nearly all managers have been sacked at one time or another, it goes with the job - even Alex Ferguson got the sack.
I'm aware of that. It doesn't change the fact Gowlings record is mediocre and Hazel gets goals whoever he plays for.

Hazel scored 8 goals in 19 games after Beck left , which is still a good return . as mentioned before I honestly think Hazel would benefit from Rivers starting.
The other thing is how are posters on here copied in to the bids put in for our players, anyone?

Massive mistake to let go the only player at our club who is capable of scoring 20 goals a season.

It beggars belief if we sell him.
Should be building a side around him, not alienating him while trying to flog him to a rival
Loanstar, you seem to have a huge amount of patience regarding Hazel - but very little patience regarding Gowling.

Not looking for ruck ;) just pointing it out.
Possibly because Hazel has proved himself capable both for us and other teams whereas Gowling got sacked for being mediocre.
Did not get sacked, left by mutual consent.

Usually a negotiated settlement is reached regarding payoff, not necessarily to the end of managers contract.
Perhaps that is what was agreed with Armstrong.

No matter how you word it, it means he was relieved of his position / sacked / not wanted anymore.
Tommy Wright was basically sacked as we chose not to renew his contract, again a case of "you're not good enough, goodbye!"

I wonder whether Nelson's impending suspension and the fact Asante is a little way off fitness might delay Hazel's exit by a couple of weeks?

Yes. Lets hope the board don't panic having authorised the move for Asante.

We can only hope that we get through the next couple of weeks continuing to pick up a few points and we're in touch once Asante gets into the side.

If Gowling goes Asante will go, I think that’s a fairly safe assumption…another reason why people need to back the manager, I understand people have doubts as we all do, but him doing well is the only feasible way we get out of the cesspit Armstrong left us in

The guy presided over 9 months of misery, constantly talking the teams chances down and then spunking the biggest BTB windfall ever to produce a bottom of the table side….yet a lot of fans seem to think removing him was the problem as oppose to the solution.
