Exactly. We don’t need a win, but the players and management need to demonstrate their disgust at the Chorley result through a purposeful and gritty performance. Words won’t cut it, we need to see an apology on the pitchSpyman wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 7:04 amI think we need some kind of performance, whether that results in a win or not is probably less important, but we need to show some fight and not get battered for the sake of morale.lo36789 wrote:We need a result on Saturday? I think we need to get results against Warrington and Rushall. I honestly do not think it matters if we win, lose or go to pens on Saturday.

ASANTE SIGNS!!!

Re: ASANTE SIGNS!!!
Yeh performance / confidence are absolutely important. I still don't think the result (win or lose) matters at all.
In all honesty I'd rather we play well and look more robust (and cohesive as a team) and lose than play terribly but win due to Scunthorpe spurning multiple clear cut chance and getting through on pens due to Scunthorpe missing the target on all theirs.

Absolutely agree. A battling performance is what is required, to show that Chorley hurt, and the players really care. At the same time we must be aware that we have 2 massive league games next week, which are crucial to our season. Anyone who is carrying an injury or just feeling the effects of playing a lot of football should be rested. We need to have as many players as possible fit and raring to go on Tuesday night.Spyman wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 7:04 amI think we need some kind of performance, whether that results in a win or not is probably less important, but we need to show some fight and not get battered for the sake of morale.lo36789 wrote:We need a result on Saturday? Regardless of who pulls the shirt on at Scunthorpe, the very minimum requirement is 100% effort, to try and restore some pride. The actual result isn’t so important.
Re: ASANTE SIGNS!!!
I agree, result immaterial, but I suppose we are in between a rock and a hard place, if the players run themselves into the ground we know Tuesday our team are tired and Tuesday is the important game. If they don't put the effort they will be slaughtered again.
I am just hoping we have an organised formation, trying to play football, watching movement and marking Scunthorpes playersrather than panic hoofball and ball watching while opposition players are left free.
Did consider going to York vs hartlepool game, but changed my mind and going to Scunthorpe.

What am I reading? This board is in the dogs.lo36789 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 8:46 amYeh performance / confidence are absolutely important. I still don't think the result (win or lose) matters at all.

We are shiite, this is our last chance to bring in some much needed prize money into the club - save the cohesive performance for Tuesday night, I'd take a spawny win as it'll mean we have crack at the next round!

Re: ASANTE SIGNS!!!
Like most on this board (I assume), I pay my money to keep the club going, and any chance to bring in more money is welcome. That's why they need to play to win on Saturday.
As for 'saving yourself for the next game', well, when I was fit enough, I would play football every day if I had the chance - I was never a semi-pro, but I played for different teams Sat and Sun to a decent (sometimes) level, and trained once a week. I don't buy the "tired when we play twice a week" line (from not just the current incumbent but from every manager we've ever had, it seems like). They're supposed to love what they do. Why is it apparently such a tough job to get fit enough to play twice a week?
