ASANTE SIGNS!!!
Re: ASANTE SIGNS!!!
Maybe he might just be the man to play alongside Hazel and get him firing again.

Re: ASANTE SIGNS!!!
I think we can be sure that Hazel is on his way now.
Well have striking options of Asante, Nelson, Simms and Curry when he's back. Not sure if we'd yet call Salkeld a striking option because he was brought in as a midfielder, but he could work well with Asante.
Re: ASANTE SIGNS!!!
Apparently we put him through a full in depth medical, not normally something that happens at our level. He’s fully recovered from his hernia op and is in fantastic shape!

This reminds me of the moment when Tommy Wright signed Reece Styche.

Probably kept Tommy his job to be fair. If I remember correctly didn't he score two on his debut, a cup match wasn't it?Ghost_Of_1883 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 1:46 pmThis reminds me of the moment when Tommy Wright signed Reece Styche.

Wonder what the odds are of Hazel scoring a Hat-Trick tonight

Long - as I'd be shocked if he starts the game.JABWootton wrote:Wonder what the odds are of Hazel scoring a Hat-Trick tonight

Re: ASANTE SIGNS!!!
I guess that if possible Josh will start with the same line up as on Saturday. They did so well in the first half it would be surprising if he were to change anything until at least half time.

Has he been training?

Sounds like Hazel when it comes to getting the ball to him in and around the penalty area.......Spyman wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 12:43 pmHe looks strong, composed and with a poachers instinct from that compilation. Spot on.
Re: ASANTE SIGNS!!!
Looks like an upgraded version of Hazel when you look at those Chester goals - although they were a few years ago now.loan_star wrote:Sounds like Hazel when it comes to getting the ball to him in and around the penalty area.......Spyman wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 12:43 pmHe looks strong, composed and with a poachers instinct from that compilation. View of a Chesterfield supporter:
They've signed Asante after we, Chesterfield, paid him off as he's not featured for us in ages. He was really good for us after we initially signed him but then he did his Achilles i think it was and was out for ages. He came back from that but didnt quite have the same mobility he had previously and struggled to make an impact. He then picked up more injuries and never seemed to be coming back from them to the point he wasnt given a squad number for this season. He apparently turned down a number of loan moves including to other NL sides leading to the point of us getting rid of him.
Be interesting to see how he gets on at Darlington, looks like they need him to do well.....but his last few months with us he seems to have spent most of his time in Nandos and doing haircuts for people!
This post worries me a little but I suppose we’ll find out in the next few weeks if he’s still up to it. With Hazel out of the squad I imagine he’s on his way so we’ll be relying on an unfit Asante and Simms while Nelson serves his ban. Maybe Josh can speedial Eddie Howe during the international break?

Re: ASANTE SIGNS!!!
Yeh those comments don't fill you with hope, but then again a level lower his loss of mobility is likely to be a bit less of an a issue - Chesterfield are top of the National League and so its no surprise that a player who might perform for us won't neccessarily be performing for them.

Re: ASANTE SIGNS!!!
Hopefully he will be match fit very quickly as we are in desperate need of a goal scorer. I have a worry that we will bw forced into playing him before he is truly fit enough and he'll pick up an injury and be out for several weeks, leaving us pretty much where we are now.
Come on Darlo!

Re: ASANTE SIGNS!!!
He was involved in the pre match training from start to finish.
Heard some comments that he could be involved on Saturday, but some were saying 2 weeks.

Re: ASANTE SIGNS!!!
Wouldn’t rush him into Saturday for the sake
Of it, am sure Gowling will have a plan not to over stretch him to begin with

Re: ASANTE SIGNS!!!
Might as well use the game to our benefit for the games that matter.
Even if he has no impact on Saturday if he can run around for 60 mins at match intensity that has to move him forward.

Re: ASANTE SIGNS!!!
He hasn't played football for a while. The result on Saturday is frankly irrelevant so if he's off the pace then so be it.
It has to have some benefit to him and he only needs to stick within what he is ready for

Re: ASANTE SIGNS!!!
It’s not irrelevant.
When you have just been beaten 8-0, you need a response immediately.
Re: ASANTE SIGNS!!!
We need a result on Saturday? Really?
I think we need to get results against Warrington and Rushall. I honestly do not think it matters if we win, lose or go to pens on Saturday.

Re: ASANTE SIGNS!!!
I think we need some kind of performance, whether that results in a win or not is probably less important, but we need to show some fight and not get battered for the sake of morale.lo36789 wrote:We need a result on Saturday? Really?
