I guess it maybe more he thought I could ask them to shut up shop, but how bad can it really get given the players shouldn't completely collapse.
Obviously the answer was very bad.
Nonsense.
Even if he felt that way, we were collapsing by 0-3, and then we started the second-half with about five of our players pressing Chorley in their own half.
And then the fourth goes, and Gowling is still instructing Taylor to be quick with his distribution, and then the fifth, and then the sixth, and the seventh, whilst we have one of the most effective midfield stoppers in the NLN on the bench, and we are STILL trying to pass it out from the back.

Nobody is saying it is an unlucky things went against us.
Everyone is saying it was a capitulation - but other clubs have had similar in the past and on occasion triggered recovery rather than consigned their demise.
The point is that they should be one offs. We got battered by Scunthorpe and Buxton under Armstrong and by Tamworth in Gowling's first week (I think?).

i cannot make sense of your first sentence.
It was a capitulation, and the problems run deeper than 'it happens, it's a one-off'.
Again, did you watch the full game?

Last night wasn't one of those 'ah we were unlucky, it happens, everything went against us' results.
You might have to check what you meant then.
Fortunately not. But nobody is saying this is the case. Not a single person is saying luck played any part.
Everybody is saying we completely fell apart. Nobody disputes this, nobody feels any different.
That doesn't change that the same has happened to other teams in the past - and it doesn't necessarily consign them to relegation if they respond appropriately.

Everything that could have gone wrong, did go wrong last night. Early goal conceded and man sent off inside 5 minutes, 2 players injured in the first half, an own goal and a penalty conceded in the second half as well. None of that excuses the defeat, but it does help to explain the magnitude of it.
This is what I am disputing, a quote on this thread, where somebody has literally listed the things that went against us - so I suggest you re-read the thread again.
I have also said absolutely nothing about consigning to relegation - why do you keep saying this?
You didn't even watch the game man, did Spyman?

My hearing is going a bit dodgy with old age but if I've heard Gowlings pre-match interview he refers to the fact that we "win one lose one at the moment" but if we carry on like that for the rest of season we will be safe. That would potentially give us 24 more points than we have at the moment plus 14 so 38 points is enough to avoid relegation

Most people this season believe that 50pts will be enough to finish outside the bottom four and thereby avoid relegation.

Do most people think we will win half of our remaining matches?

We have 28 games remaining don't we? So 14 wins equals 42 points, plus 14 equals 56 points.

Maybe this should be on the “truth” thread, but truth is that whenever I hear our manager in an interview I cannot stand the guy. His giggling and “ we’ve had a chat in there” comments are driving me mad.
Surely that was an opportunity to accept a share of responsibility, thank the fans who travelled, apologise profusely and lay it on the line etc etc.
Sorry but the guy just winds me up and cannot remember saying that about any other manager I can remember.

You are correct so we are easily safe from relegation as Josh says. I will now go and resit my maths O Level!

I think what you refer to as giggling is just a nervous laugh. Slightly irritating perhaps but not a reason to condemn the guy.
I’ll tell you what I found really annoying, that was Armstrong’s constant whinging and downbeat interview performances. At least Josh displays some enthusiasm and looks like he actually wants to be here, unlike his predecessor. I wish we had brought him in preseason and allowed him to spend the budget, and given him time to bed his own players in, rather than have to work with Mr Grumpy’s terrible signings.
Nevertheless, we are where we are, and he has my support and best wishes for the future, as he attempts to lift our club out of the doldrums.

I hope you are right because he genuinely does seem a nice guy and the sort you would like to see do well. I just wish I could feel as positive as you do!

I honestly believe a lot of our current problems are mental ones with the players and are caused by both AA and DJ being so downbeat before and during the start of the season.
Being told so often we were going to struggle must have blown our confidence to bits even before we started, and is only strengthened by the first few poor results.

Has Josh not said in previous interviews we had brought in a Sports Psychologist?

Yes. Do you think he can work on all the squad like a magician?

Agree with this to be honest. It just felt like a human, almost instinctive response over anything.
Isn't it a known response by your brain, particularly in when being questioned about something uncomfortable? It is a form of defence mechanism.
It happens when people end up in aggressive situations as well and inevitably leads to the "what are you laughing at" type response.

End of the day, the only way he’s going to get people to change their minds is to get results on the pitch. Down to him now.

Definitely. Results are what eventually and ultimately you are judged on.
We gave AA a new contract as we were top (or nearly top) of the league.
