Darlo people

Post by Quakerz » Sat Sep 25, 2010 5:40 pm

I popped over to Darlo Pete to say hello today for 5 minutes, and there was 4 of us sat around the table.

Talking about poor attendances I realised something, the four of us sat around the table - Darlo Pete, Darlo Cockney, Rickeyboy, and myself Quakerz - NONE of us speak with a Darlington accent or were born in the town!

Hardly anybody is turning out and the ones that do aren't even from Darlington! Sorry Darlo people that is a poor show.

On top of that, today I brought FOUR children, FOUR. That was my effort to help the club, what were Darlo people doing?

Come on Darlo people, you're reading this fricking board now you need to get back down the stadium - we are 4 points from the top of the table.

Me too.

This attendance thing is simple though isn't it. For years we've flattered to deceive and ultimately have disappointed. We've never (including Penney's teams) had a team that you can trust to not disappoint, and people have got fed up. Whilst I still think the pay on the day prices are much too expensive, the fact of the matter is that we are going to have to put a good run of results together, for 20 games +, and get the crowd growing fifty or a hundred or so at a time.

We've been in a cycle for ages now it seems where we win a couple, get a decent crowd in and get beaten, over and over again. We need a consistent run of decent performances and results (with no Eastbourne and Bath results thrown in) and if we do that and still are only getting 2000 then Raj has every right to be pissed off.

Not making excuses for people not coming, I'm not one of them, but neither am I confident enough to think that persuading/ cajoling anybody to come is a good idea yet either! All my mates/relatives that I've dragged along before have vowed "never again" as we've nearly always gone and got stuffed wheh they've turned up.

I think you can distracted by questioning people where they come from originally. It doesn't metter where each of us comes from, as we're all Darlo fans. It isn't the sole responsibility of Darlington people to support their hometown club, its the whole area. I know where Q is coming from, but he does tend to make some very broad assumptions.

We will be playing at the arena again next season - fact.

Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.
